The Italy Serie A, known as Serie A for short, or officially Serie A TIM, thanks to the sponsorship agreement with telecommunications company Telecom Italia Mobile, is the top division of the Italian Football League system. The league was founded in 1898 under the FIGC Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio, the Italian Football Federation, the nation's FIFA-affiliated governing body for football. The Italian Football Championship started as regional groups with interregional rounds that consolidated into the Northern Lega Nord and Southern Lega Sud. The Lega Nord is considered to be the ancestor of the Italy Serie A due to its development and mighty clubs like AC Milan, Genoa, Juventus, and Inter Milan, among others. The current format was adopted in 1929, incorporating the southern teams into the new national competition based on the Lega Nord structure.

The latest restructuring came in 2010, with the creation of the LNPA Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A, or National Professionals League Serie A, as the new independent governing body separated from the FIGC Italian Football Federation in which the 20 clubs in the Italy Serie A have equal rights and revenue sharing from sponsorships and television rights. The LNPA also took over most of the national competitions held with the participation of the top-flight teams, like the Coppa Italia, a knock-out tournament that includes teams from the top three levels of the Italian Football Pyramid, and the Supercoppa Italiana, a Super Cup style trophy that features the winner of the Italy Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

Regarding international events, as members of UEFA, Italy Serie A teams qualify for the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League, and the UEFA Conference League.

The Italy Serie A Championship title is referred to as the Scudetto, the crest-like small shield that the Champions have worn since the 1923–24 season, bearing a small coat of arms with the national flag on their jersey that identifies the club as reigning champions.

What is the Italy Serie A?

The Italy Serie A is the country's top-flight league, operated by the LNPA Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A in conjunction with the FIGC Italian Football Federation and under the umbrella of the Italian Football System, which includes the Italy Serie A as the top-tier league with 20 teams, the Italy Serie B as the second tier competition with 20 teams, and the Serie C, a professional third tier with 60 teams divided into three regional groups.

The Italy Serie A is the third strongest league in European Football according to the UEFA league coefficient, and the fourth in the world in financial terms and television audience. Italy's Serie A is considered one of the best football leagues in the world, with a great history of innovation and tactical prowess.

Current teams:

  • AC Milan - Milan
  • Atalanta - Bergamo
  • Bologna - Bologna
  • Cagliari - Cagliari
  • Empoli - Empoli
  • Fiorentina - Florence
  • Frosinone - Frosinone
  • Genoa - Genoa
  • Hellas Verona - Verona
  • Inter Milan - Milan
  • Juventus - Turin
  • Lazio - Rome
  • Lecce - Lecce
  • Monza - Monza
  • Napoli - Naples
  • Roma - Rome
  • Salernitana - Salerno
  • Sassuolo - Sassuolo
  • Torino - Turin
  • Udinese - Udine

The season is played between August and May, where each club plays against each other twice, at home and away, in a double round-robin format, for a total of 38 matches each, with the usual three points per win, one point per draw, and no points per loss. All teams are ranked by points, and in case of a tie in points, by the goal difference, goals scored, head-to-head score, goals scored in the matchup, away goals in the matchup, and total away goals in the season. A tiebreaker match played at a neutral venue would decide the final placement in case of a persisting tie that would define the Championship or the qualification to other competitions.

The Italy Serie A includes a relegation and promotion system in which after every season, the three lower teams in the table are relegated to the Italy Serie B, with the top three teams in this second-tier level being promoted to take the places left by the relegated team. The relegation system raises the stakes and gives the competition unparalleled competitiveness, with bottom teams fighting until the end to maintain the category. Only one team, Inter Milan, has never been relegated to a lower division since its establishment in 1909.

The top four teams qualify for the following UEFA Champions League. The previous winners of the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europe League also earn a direct berth, which could grant the Italy Serie A extra qualifying spots if the previous champions come from their league. Additionally, the fifth team, along with the winner of the Supercoppa Italiana, qualifies for the UEFA Europa League, the continental second-tier club competition. The sixth place in the table earns a UEFA Europa Conference League berth, the third-tier European tournament.

How to Bet on the Italy Serie A

BetPhoenix.ag not only offers you the best Italy Serie A Odds, but we also provide you with many helpful tools, like this Italy Serie A odds guide, to introduce you to the numerous moneymaking opportunities available when betting on the Italy Serie A betting lines, helping you improve your chances of winning.

Italy Serie A Point Spreads

The Italy Serie A Point Spreads bets, similarly to other major sports like football, baseball, and basketball, are based on a handicapped margin of victory established on a projected game result. If an Italy Serie A betting lines show a point spread of 1.5 for an upcoming game, the favorite team (-1.5) must win by at least two goals for your bet to be a winner, while betting on the underdog (+1.5) can lose by one goal, tie the game or win outright for your bet to be a win. The .5 fraction is used to avoid a push in the wagers.

This is an example of an Italy Serie A Point Spread, as you would find it listed in BetPhoenix:

Team - Points Spread Odds

Inter Milan -1.5

Juventus +1.5

In this case, the -1.5 points spread indicates that Inter Milan is the favorite to win by a margin of two goals against Juventus. Conversely, Juventus is the underdog and can lose by a margin of less than two goals. These are the likely results of this bet:

· Inter Milan wins by two or more goals: Inter Milan bettors win.

· Inter Milan wins by one goal: Juventus bettors win.

· The game is a draw/tie: Juventus bettors win.

· Juventus wins the game: Juventus bettors win.

Italy Serie A Moneylines

Italy's Serie A Moneyline is always the most straightforward betting option. Your pick reflects who you expect to be the outright winner of the game. A negative odds value indicates the favorite, while a positive value indicates an underdog. Italy Serie A Moneyline uses a $100 base American odds system, in which larger numbers indicate a stronger favorite or weaker underdog.

The two-way Italy Serie A Moneyline, in which the Italy Serie A betting lines are focused on either one of the two sides winning, removing the impact of a tie or draw, in which case the bet would be a push. There is also a three-way Italy Serie A Moneyline, in which the Italy Serie A betting lines offer odds values for the home team winning, the visitor team winning, or the match ending in a draw or tie.

This is an example of a Two-Way Italy Serie A Moneyline, as you would find it listed in BetPhoenix:

Team - Moneyline

Inter Milan -210

Juventus +160

In this case, if you bet to win $100 on Inter Milan -210, as favorites, you would need to risk $210, while betting $100 on Juventus +160 as an underdog, you would receive $160 if Juventus wins the game. If the match ends in a tie, the wager would be a push, which means the bet is voided and refunded.

This is an example of a Three-Way Italy Serie A Moneyline, as you would find it listed in BetPhoenix:

Team - Moneyline

Inter Milan -180

Draw +350

Juventus +275

In this case, if you bet to win $100 on Inter Milan -180 as favorites, you would need to risk $180. Betting $100 on the draw +350, you would receive $350 if the game ends in a tie. And betting $100 on Juventus +275 as an underdog, you would receive $275 if Juventus wins the game.

At BetPhoenix, our Italy Serie A odds will give you the best available Moneyline prices and the tightest point spread odds offered by any sportsbook.

Italy Serie A Over/Under Totals

The Italy Serie A Totals bet is based on a projected final score that includes both teams, independently on which side wins. Italy Serie A Totals are represented in an Over/Under set, where you can pick if you expect this result to be over or under this estimated line.

This is an example of an Italy Serie A Over/Under Totals as you would find it listed in BetPhoenix:

Italy Serie A Totals – Inter Milan vs. Juventus

Total: 2.5

Over odds: -300

Under odds: +240

In this case, the Italy Serie A Over/Under of 2.5 means that if the match ends with a combined score of three or more goals, the Over wins; if the total score is two or less, the Under wins. If you bet to win $100 on the Over -300, you would need to risk $300 and win if the game ends with 3 goals or more. Betting $100 on the Under +240, you would receive $240 if the game ends with 2 goals or less.

Italy Serie A Parlays

Italy Serie A Parlay is a wager type in which two or more Italy Serie A betting lines are combined to form a single wager with a considerably higher payout. However, all selected Italy Serie A betting lines must win for the parlay wager to win. You can combine point spreads, moneylines, over/under totals, and other wagers. You can also combine favorites and underdogs. The more bets you add to your Italy Serie A parlay, the odds multiply accordingly in your favor.

Using the example, a two-line Italy Serie A Parlay could be as follows:

Inter Milan -180

Inter Milan vs. Juventus Total: Under 2.5 +240

By combining the Inter Milan Moneyline -180 and Total Under 2.5 +240 for the Inter Milan vs. Juventus game on a 2-team parlay risking $100, the combined odds would be +429 with a payout for this parlay of $528.90, about 5 times your bet, instead of risking $100 to bet on each separately.

Italy Serie A Prop Bets

Italy Serie A prop bets are one of the most exciting ways to bet on the outcome of the games. The most popular German Bundesliga Prop Bets include many possibilities. Team prop bets include lines to bet on which team will score first, how many shots on goal will be made, how many corner kicks will occur, how many cards will be sanctioned, and a long etcetera. Player props bets include who will score a goal during the game, who will score the first goal of the match, who will score multiple goals, how many shots on goal a player will make, etc.
