What is the Turkish Super Lig?

The Turkish Super Lig is the country's top-flight league, organized by the TFF Turkish Football Federation, the official FIFA-affiliated governing body for football in Turkey, tasked with organizing Turkish professional and amateur football.

The history of football in Turkey starts with British immigrants bringing the game to Salonica in the late 19th century to the then Ottoman Empire, with the first unofficial competitions taking place as the Istanbul League in 1904. The TTF Turkish Football Federation was formed in 1923, creating the first national competition beginning in 1924 as the Turkish Football Championship, a knockout competition between the winners of several of the country's regional leagues. The first national league started in 1959 as the Turkish National Division, with the strongest clubs from the regional leagues from Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir joining. The inaugural 1958–59 Turkish Super Lig featured the following 16 clubs:

  • From Istambul: Adalet, Besiktas, Beykoz, Karagumruk, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, Istanbulspor, Izmirsporand, and Vefa.
  • From Ankara: Ankaragucu, Ankara Demirspor, Gençlerbirliği, and Hacettepe Gençlik
  • From Izmir: Altay, Göztepe, and Karsıyaka.

The Turkish Football system is currently structured with the Turkish Super Lig as the top tier competition, with 20 teams, with a reduction planned to 18 teams by the 2025-26 season; the TFF 1 Lig as the second tier, with 20 teams, with a reduction planed to 18 teams by the 2026-27 season; the TTF 2 Lig as the third tier, with 38 clubs divided into two groups, and the TTF 3 Lig as the fourth tier with 53 clubs divided into three regional groups. Additionally, the TFF Turkish Football Federation administers other major national competitions, like the Turkish Cup, a knockout tournament that includes teams from the top three levels of the Turkish Football Pyramid, and the Turkish Super Cup, played since 1979 between the Turkish Super Lig and Turkish Cup champions.

Regarding international events, the Turkish Super Lig is a member of UEFA, and their teams qualify for continental competitions like the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League, and the UEFA Conference League.

The Turkish Super Lig ranked 9th in Europe according to the UEFA League 2023 coefficient, with the highest jump by any league jumping 11 places from their 20th ranking in 2022. The Turkish Super Lig has been in a successful redevelopment to regain ground from other leagues, experiencing growth in attendance and television viewership and drawing more attention from international players and sponsors.

Current teams:

  • Gaziantep, Gaziantep

The season is played between August and May, where each club plays against each other twice, at home and away, in a double round-robin format, for 34 matchdays, with the usual three points per win, one point per draw, and no points per loss. Teams are ranked by points, and in case of a tie, other criteria are considered, starting with goal difference, goals scored, head-to-head score, goals scored in the matchup, away goals in the matchup, and total away goals in the season. A tiebreaker match played at a neutral venue would decide the final placement in case of a persisting tie that would define the Championship, qualification to other competitions, and relegation.

The Turkish Super Lig includes a relegation and promotion system in which, after every season, the two bottom teams in the table are relegated to the Turkish First League, with teams in this second-tier level being promoted to take their place. The relegation system gives an exciting edge to the competition in the fight to avoid relegation. Only three teams have avoided relegation from the Turkish Super Lig: Besiktas, Fenerbahce, and Galatasaray.

The top two Turkish Super Lig teams qualify for the following UEFA Champions League. Since the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europe League champions earn a direct berth, the league could have extra qualifying spots if these come from the Turkish Super Lig. The third team, alongside the Turkish Cup champion, qualifies for the UEFA Europa League, the continental second-tier club competition. The fourth place earns a UEFA Europa Conference League berth, the third-tier European tournament.

How to Bet on Turkish Super Lig

BetPhoenix.ag not only offers you the best Turkish Super Lig Odds, but we also provide you with many helpful tools, like this Turkish Super Lig odds guide, to introduce you to the numerous moneymaking opportunities available when betting on the Turkish Super Lig betting lines, helping you improve your chances of winning.

Turkish Super Lig Point Spreads

The Turkish Super Lig Point Spreads bets, similarly to other major sports like football, baseball, and basketball, are based on a handicapped margin of victory established on a projected game result. If a Turkish Super Lig betting lines show a point spread of 1.5 for an upcoming game, the favorite team (-1.5) must win by at least two goals for your bet to be a winner, while betting on the underdog (+1.5) can lose by one goal, tie the game or win outright for your bet to be a win. The .5 fraction is used to avoid a push in the wagers.

This is an example of a Turkish Super Lig Point Spread, as you would find it listed in BetPhoenix:

Team - Points Spread Odds

Galatasaray -1.5

Fenerbahce +1.5

In this case, the -1.5 points spread indicates that Galatasaray is the favorite to win by a margin of two goals against Fenerbahce. Conversely, Fenerbahce is the underdog and can lose by a margin of less than two goals. These are the likely results of this bet:

· Galatasaray wins by two or more goals: Galatasaray bettors win.

· Galatasaray wins by one goal: Fenerbahce bettors win.

· The game is a draw/tie: Fenerbahce bettors win.

· Fenerbahce wins the game: Fenerbahce bettors win.

Turkish Super Lig Moneylines

Turkish Super Lig Moneyline is always the most straightforward betting option. Your pick reflects who you expect to be the outright winner of the game. A negative odds value indicates the favorite, while a positive value indicates an underdog. Turkish Super Lig Moneyline uses a $100 base American odds system, in which larger numbers indicate a stronger favorite or weaker underdog.

In the two-way Turkish Super Lig Moneyline, the Turkish Super Lig betting lines are focused on either one of the two sides winning, removing the impact of a tie or draw, in which case the bet would be a push. There is also a three-way Turkish Super Lig Moneyline, in which the Turkish Super Lig betting lines offer odds values for the home team winning, the visitor team winning, or the match ending in a draw or tie.

This is an example of a Two-Way Turkish Super Lig Moneyline, as you would find it listed in BetPhoenix:

Team - Moneyline

Galatasaray -140

Fenerbahce +120

In this case, if you bet to win $100 on Galatasaray -140, as favorites, you would need to risk $140, while betting $100 on Fenerbahce +120 as an underdog, you would receive $120 if Fenerbahce wins the game. If the match ends in a tie, the wager would be a push, which means the bet is voided and refunded.

This is an example of a Three-Way Turkish Super Lig Moneyline, as you would find it listed in BetPhoenix:

Team - Moneyline

Galatasaray -120

Draw +220

Fenerbahce +180

If you bet to win $100 on Galatasaray -120 as the favorite, you would need to risk $120. If you bet $100 on the draw +220, you would receive $220 if the game ends in a tie. And betting $100 on Fenerbahce +180 as an underdog, you would receive $180 if Fenerbahce wins.

At BetPhoenix, our Turkish Super Lig odds will give you the best available Moneyline prices and the tightest point spread odds offered by any sportsbook.

Turkish Super Lig Over/Under Totals

The Turkish Super Lig Totals bet is based on a projected final score that includes both teams, independently on which side wins. Turkish Super Lig Totals are represented in an Over/Under set, where you can pick if you expect this result to be over or under this estimated line.

This is an example of a Turkish Super Lig Over/Under Totals as you would find it listed in BetPhoenix:

Turkish Super Lig Totals – Galatasaray vs. Fenerbahce

Total: 2.5

Over odds: +150

Under odds: -130

In this case, the Turkish Super Lig Over/Under of 2.5 means that if the match ends with a combined score of three or more goals, the Over wins; if the total score is two or less, the Under wins. If you bet to win $100 on the Over +150, and the match ends with 3 goals or more, you would receive $150. Betting $100 on the Under -130, you would need to risk $130 to win if the game ends with 2 goals or less.

Turkish Super Lig Parlays

Turkish Super Lig Parlay is a wager type in which two or more Turkish Super Lig betting lines are combined to form a single wager with a considerably higher payout. However, all selected Turkish Super Lig betting lines must win for the parlay wager to win. You can combine point spreads, moneylines, over/under totals, and other wagers. You can also combine favorites and underdogs. The more bets you add to your Turkish Super Lig parlay, the odds multiply accordingly in your favor.

Using the example, a two-line Turkish Super Lig Parlay could be as follows:

Galatasaray -120

Galatasaray vs. Fenerbahce Total: Under 2.5 -130

By combining the Galatasaray Moneyline -120 and Total Under 2.5 -130 for the Galatasaray vs. Fenerbahce game on a 2-team parlay risking $100, the combined odds would be +224 with a payout for this parlay of $324.35, about 3 times your bet, instead of risking $100 to bet on each separately.

Turkish Super Lig Prop Bets

Turkish Super Lig prop bets are one of the most exciting ways to bet on the outcome of the games. The most popular German Bundesliga Prop Bets include many possibilities. Team prop bets include lines to bet on which team will score first, how many shots on goal will be made, how many corner kicks will occur, how many cards will be sanctioned, and a long etcetera. Player props bets include who will score a goal during the game, who will score the first goal of the match, who will score multiple goals, how many shots on goal a player will make, etc.

Take the time to check all available props on Betphoenix.ag, and you'll find many attractive options to increase your betting repertoire.
