NFL Total Season Wins Odds: Value found

The NFL season is approaching fast, but we still have some markers to hit. The most recent one was the NFL Draft on Thursday, April 28, as teams are still forming their rosters as they prepare before we reach September and the start of the 2022 NFL regular season.

The 2022 NFL schedule will be public on Thursday, May 12 at 8 p.m. ET, so we don't know how each team's path to Super Bowl LVII will look, though we know the whole slate of opponents. Nevertheless, although some pieces of the overall puzzle are still missing, Vegas oddsmakers have announced their opening "NFL Regular Season Total Wins" for all 32 teams for the 2022 Football season.

Only three teams, the Bills, Packers, and Buccaneers, sit at the 11.5 wins mark. However, those teams are in the top five in odds to win the Super Bowl LVII, alongside the KC Chiefs positioned at 10.5 wins and LA Rams at ten wins, sequentially. 

While we look for value over these opening NFL Regular Season Total Wins, the Dallas Cowboys over 10.5 wins at +100 is a tempting pick. On top of their regular-season slate with their division rivals, Dallas will face the NFC North and AFC South this forthcoming season. Performing duties at home against the division and possibly sweeping them on the road (as they did in the 2021 season) would quickly put them at six wins. Also, they host the Bears, Lions, and Texans, which should be three easy games, getting them to 9 wins total. The best part is they'll travel to Jacksonville to face the Jaguars, another game that Dallas shall be heavily favored to win whenever they head down there in 2022.

That theoretical road lands them with ten wins. After that, Dallas will likely be favorites against the Colts, possibly steal a win against the Bengals and Buccaneers at home. Then, they could be road favorites in Tennessee and Minnesota with two other road games against the Packers and Rams. That sums up to 13 winnable games, which are plenty of cushion for the Cowboys to cross that 10.5-win line.

Dallas Cowboys had the No. 2 ranked defense in DVOA while offensively, Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb led the passing attack. That squad should continue to be among the top of the league. 

On the other side, and in a different reality, 5.5 total wins for the New York Jets in 2022 seem too much. They have three winnable games at home against the Jaguars, Bears, and Lions, but their other home opponents include tough matchups with their AFC North counterparts, Bengals and Ravens, and their own AFC East rivals Bills, Dolphins, and Patriots.

And it doesn't get better on the road, sledding with the Browns, Steelers, Broncos, Packers, Seahawks, and Vikings on the schedule. Of course, the Jets could beat a Seattle team without Wilson. But, that scenario still only has them at four wins. 

Maybe they can win against the Dolphins and Patriots and then face a Brown's squad awaiting a possible QB Deshaun Watson's suspension. For New York to win six or more games, many things would have to go perfectly.
