Bet on the Mets - Logan Verrett (R)

The Mets have been a sinking ship after the All-Star Break. So much so that they’ve gone from having a shot at winning the NL East to being close of not making it to the playoffs.

The Mets are the defending National League champions. And, everyone was expecting for them to be right up there this year as well; however, at this point disaster is looming if they can’t improve their performance at plate and at the mound (apart from Noah Syndegaard, the Mets’ pitchers aren’t there). Even while the trade deadline expires tomorrow, it could be hard to bet on the Mets at the moment. The Mets are 23-5 in their last 28 Monday games, 2-8 in their last 10 home games, and 1-6 in Verrett’s last seven starts.

Bet on the Yankees – CC Sabathia (L)

Meanwhile, the Yankees have been on the up and up and now have a shot at an AL wild card. Though there might be a few moves from their ranks as the trades come to an end tomorrow (namely Carlos Beltran), the Yank’s season is looking good.

The Yankees now own a .500 mark, sitting on the fourth place in the AL East. However, their work is cut out for them at the mound in having traded Aroldis Chapman to the Cubs and Andrew Miller to the Indians. The Yankees trade of Chapman to the Cubs for a four-player package, sparked their run for the playoffs, however, after three consecutive losses they then sold Miller on Sunday morning for a four-player deal that included the fifth overall pick of the 2013 draft, outfielder Clint Frazier. The Yankees are 6-1 in their last seven against the NL East, 1-4 in their last five interleague road games.
