In the ALDS, the Detroit Tigers will play the Baltimore Orioles in a best of five series which will begin in Baltimore.

Detroit Tigers vs. Baltimore Orioles, Game 1, ALDS, Thursday, October 2, TBS.

The Tigers won their division for the fourth straight year, putting them in the playoffs for the fourth straight year, which are both franchise records. They have made it to the ALCS three years in a row, and were in the World Series in 2012, but were swept by the San Francisco Giants in 4 games.

The Baltimore Orioles are back in the playoffs for the second time in three years, and are hoping for a better performance than they had in 2012 appearance, when they lost in the ALDS in five games.

Pitching Matchups

The Tigers will send Max Sherzer to the mound in game 1, while the Orioles will send Chris Tillman to the mound.

Sherzer has pitched very well for the Tigers this season, he was 18-5 during the regular season, with a 3.15 ERA, and has been very hot lately, going 5-1, with 4 NDs in his last 10 starts, and the team is 8-2 during the stretch. The team hopes his recent success carries over into the playoffs.

Tillman had a very good year for the Orioles, he finished the season with a 13-6 record, and a 3.34 ERA, but he is also 5-1, with 4 NDs in his last 10 starts, and the Orioles have gone 9-1 during the stretch, so the team feels comfortable with him getting the first start.

The Tigers are loaded with talented starting pitchers, and have the last three Cy Young award winners on their team. The Tigers lost to the Giants in 2012 because the Giants had a very solid starting rotation that didn’t give up a lot of runs, and they are hoping to do the same to their opponents this year.

The Orioles dominated the AL East, and are one of the best hitting teams in the league. They are hoping that their bats remain hot in the playoffs, which will help them win games. They also have a pitching staff with the 7th best ERA in the league, which will keep them in most games.

Personal Pick: The Tigers pitching will be the key to their victory.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, NLDS Game 1, Friday, October 3, FOX Sports 1

The Cardinals eliminated the Dodgers in the NLCS in six games last year, on their way to the World Series, so the Dodgers have an ax to grind against the Cardinals when they meet in the NLDS.

Pitching Matchups

The Cardinals will go with Adam Wainwright in game 1, while the Dodgers will send Clayton Kershaw to the mound.

Both Pitchers are two of the best in baseball right now, Wainwright went 20-9 for the Cardinals with a 2.38 ERA, and 179 strikeouts, he has also pitched very well for the Cardinals in the playoffs, so they are very confident with him starting their series.

Kershaw is a lock to win the NL Cy Young award this season, despite missing some time due to injury, he dominated his opponents this season, and finished with a 21-3 record, an ERA of 1.77and 239 strikeouts. He is also the hottest pitcher in the league right now with seven straight wins in his last seven starts, and he is also 8-1 in his last 10 starts, with 1 ND.

The Cardinals know they will be going against a pitcher that doesn’t give up many runs, so they have to be patient at the plate, and not try to force anything.

The Dodgers have been hitting the ball well lately, and should be able to provide some run support for their ace, making things easier for him.

Personal Pick: Kershaw will dominate the Cardinals at home, giving his team the victory.
