Giants vs. Royals

The San Francisco Giants have taken a 3-2 lead in the 2014 World Series, and are heading back to Kauffman Stadium for the final two games for a chance to win their third World Series title in six years, which is an impressive feat, because only two of the starters that have played in the series had a winning record in the regular season.

San Francisco Giants vs. Kansas City Royals, Game 6, Tuesday, October 28, 8:07 PM. ET. FOX.

Pitching Matchups

With their backs against the wall, the Kansas City Royals will give Yordano Ventura the start, while the Giants will go with Jake Peavy to clinch the series for them.

The Giants traded for Jake Peavy during the season, to provide them with some depth in their pitching rotation, especially in the playoffs, because of his past postseason experience, which includes a World Series win with the Boston Red Sox last season. The former Cy Young award winner struggled during the regular season, with a 7-13 record, but was 6-4 in his 12 starts as a Giant. He has played well in his three starts in the playoffs, and has a 1-1 record, but he struggled in his last outing, which was game 2 of the World Series, allowing four runs in five innings. He will need to put on a better performance on Tuesday night in order for the Giants to win the game and the series.

Yordano Ventura has been a good luck charm for the Royals in all his appearances in the playoffs, in his first career playoff appearance against the Oakland A’s in the Wildcard game, he blew a save, but the Royals rallied to win the game in 12 innings. In his first playoff start, he was very effective, and limited the Los Angeles Angels to one run in seven innings, but didn’t get the decision, but the Royals won the game. In his second start, he struggled a little, and allowed four runs in five innings against the Baltimore Orioles, but the Royals ended up winning the game 6-4. In his third start, he gave up two runs against the Giants in game 2 of the World Series, but got pulled before the team rallied to win the game 7-2. The Royals will be hoping the trend of them winning the games he either starts or appears in continues in game 6 against the Giants.

The biggest reason the Giants are up 3-2 is the fact that Madison Bumgarner has been pitching lights out in the series, and has won his two starts in the series so far, the Giants are hoping that Peavy will be able to do enough to limit the Royals’ scoring, so their bullpen can finish the rest.

The Royals haven’t scored a lot of runs in their last few games, and are hoping that their bats will come alive again, now that they are back in the friendly confines of Kauffman Stadium.

Personal Pick: The Royals were able to get to Jake Peavy in game 2 of the series, and should be able to get to him again in game 6, which will help them get the win.
