Golovkin vs Murray Boxing Odds

Two of the top middleweight fighters in boxing will meet at the Salle des Etoiles event hall in Monte Carlo, Monaco, on Saturday, when undefeated, hard hitting Gennady Golovkin and British middleweight Martin Murray put their middleweight belts on the line, in what should be one of the most exciting fights of the year.

Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28 KO) vs. Martin Murray (29-1-1, 12 KO), Saturday, February 21, 5:45 PM. ET.

Golovkin is considered by most experts to be the best middleweight in the world, and he has certainly helped his cause by destroying his opposition. Golovkin has a lot of power, and has won his last 18 fights by knockout, which has made a lot of the big names in the division stay away from fighting him. Golovkin isn't just a power puncher, he also lands his punches with amazing accuracy, which makes it harder to defend against his punches. Instead of swarming or trying to overwhelm a boxer, he stalks his opponents, and strikes when he sees an opening.

Golovkin is also known to have a very good chin, and has taken some big shots from some of the best fighters in the middleweight division, but has been able to withstand them so far. In his Super middleweight title defense against Daniel Geale, he knocked Geale out with an off balanced punch, right after taking a right hook to the face, demonstrating just how tough he is. Unlike most power punchers that tire out after a while, Golovkin has top notch conditioning, and can go all 12 rounds if required, which is why the boxing odds favor him in this fight.

Murray might be the underdog going into this fight, but he will probably give Golovkin the toughest fight of his career. Murray isn't known as a power puncher, because he only has 12 knockouts in 31 fights, but he makes up for the lack of power in different ways. At 6 feet, he has a reach advantage over a lot of his opponents, and knows how to take advantage of it. He is a very smart boxer, who is also very well conditioned, and has a pretty good chin, and hasn't been knocked out in his career. Martin is also a very accurate boxer, and times his punches very well.

Murray has had two shots at World titles, but was unable to get the win. In his first title fight against Felix Strum, the bout ended in a draw. He got his next shot against Sergio Martinez, whom he faced in his home country of Argentina, and lost the fight via a controversial decision in favor of Martinez, after the referee ruled one of his two knockdowns of Martinez as a slip, costing him the fight. Murray will use the experienced he gained in those fights as motivation to try and give Golovkin his first loss.

Golovkin vs. Murray Boxing Odds and Predictions

As expected, Golovkin is the overwhelming favorite in this fight, the money line in -3500, while the money line for Murray is +1200. The Over/Under on the total amount of rounds is 7.5.

Boxing experts have Golovkin winning this fight by a knockout.

My Pick: Golovkin won't get his 19th straight KO, but he will win the fight by a unanimous decision.
