Green Bay Packers vs. Carolina Panthers Game Predictions

The Green Bay Packers were the first of the five to give up an undefeated record this season. Having lost to the Broncos, they’ll now want to take in out on the Panthers and regain their positive momentum. The only problem is, that Carolina is also one of the other four remaining teams sporting undefeated status.

  • Where: Bank of America Stadium

Surprisingly for many, Aaron Rodgers was held by a solid Broncos defense to a minimum last Sunday night. As the Packers were handed their first loss of the season, it might have opened a can of worms for Panthers who will have to come up with a similar strategy and hope to stop Rodgers who will carry a chip on his shoulders  because of the loss.

Rodgers came undone behind a great Broncos’ defensive performance, and only completed 14 of his 22 passes for a paltry 77 yards and no scores, while being sacked three times.

Green Bay will undoubtedly make the needed offensive adjustments against Carolina; if the Packers hope to take down the undefeated Panthers, Rodgers will have to shift his offensive drive and keep on gunning the ball to receivers James Jones and Randall Cobb, who have combined for 803 yards in the air for 10 touchdowns this year. This shouldn’t be too much of a problem given a weak Panthers’ secondary that is allowing 229.8 passing yards per game.

Meanwhile the Panthers just etched out a win in overtime against the Indianapolis Colts last Monday night by a score of 29-26. It was a difficult affair for Carolina to win against Indianapolis, winning by a 52 yard field goal from Graham Cano.

Key for the Panthers will be to exploit the Packers’ weak defense against the run, where they’re giving up 124.4 yards per game. They’ll be relying on Jonathan Stewart’s ability, who has been spectacular all season long and allowed Carolina to rank atop the running stats with 144 yards per game. Stewart sports 423 yards with two touchdowns to his name. They could also try to use tight end Greg Olsen, who has faired very well in the air, leading the team with 439 yards and three touchdowns after seven games so far.

They will need however, to try to stop Aaron Rodgers or at least keep him to a minimum in order for them to win this game. Of course, this will be easier said than done, given how Rodgers commands his offense to score big points.
