Bet on the Jets

Though the Jets rallied in the fourth quarter in their game against the Bengals to take a two-point lead with six minutes left in the clock, Cincinnati clawed their way to within field goal distance allowing Mike Nugent to kick the game winning score and defeat New York on their home turf.

The Jets were had a few mishaps in that game, allowing Cincinnati enough room to inflict heavy damage. Especially in the Jets’ secondary, that left openings for opposing wide receiver AJ Green, there was much room for improvement. All in all, Green caught 10 passes for 152 yards covered by Darrelle Revis.

But the Jets defense wasn’t the only unit that struggled. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was also off-target, completing only 19 of 35 passes for 189 yards and two scores with one interception. And, it wasn’t that the Jets didn’t get the opportunity to score, but that they didn’t take advantage of those opportunities and were unable to convert in the red zone.

Bet on the Bills

The Bills were clobbered by the Baltimore Ravens in their season debut that ended 13-7. Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco gunned away finishing with 258 yards and a touchdown, leaving the defense with their mouths wide open and nothing to answer back.

Buffalo also struggled on offense, unable to move down the field and finishing with an embarrassing 160 total years in their loss against the Ravens. And, though one might be tempted to give the Ravens’ defense some credit, it was this same defense that gave up 401 points last year.

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor needs to buckle down and fire up the offense. Taylor only managed to complete 15 of 22 passes with no touchdowns against the Ravens. He simply wasn’t able to connect with his receivers and Sammy Watkins was practically ineffective in that game.

However, the Bills have a good shot at defeating the Jets. They’ve won their last five games against New York and, in fact, booted them out of the playoffs last year in their last win which might mean they have the Jets’ ticket.
