Arizona Cardinals vs San Diego Chargers

  • Time: Friday, August 19, 2016 9:00 PM ET
  • Place: Qualcomm Stadium
  • Betting Line: Chargers -1.5
  • Total: 40.5

Bet on the Cardinals

The Cardinals lost their first preseason game to the Oakland Raiders by a score of 31-10. None of the QBs has a particularly good game, in fact Matt Barkley completed 8 of 24 passes for 121 yards, no touchdowns and one interception, Drew Stanton came in at 42 yards in 2 for 6 passes, while Carson Palmer only added 38 yards in 3 for 5 passes.

Carson Palmer could see more playing time in this game however, so his numbers should get better. In the passing game, Jaxon Shipley and Troy Niklas combined for 99 receiving yards on five catches. On the ground, the Cardinals averaged just around 5 yards per carry with Elijhaa Penny leading the way with 43 yards on 15 carries.

There’s nothing to boast about in Arizona’s defensive game, with Marqui Christian leading in tackles with five to his name.

Bet on the Chargers

The Chargers also lost their first game at the hands of the Tennessee Titans by a score of 27-10. Quarterback Kellen Clemens led in passing with 96 yards through the air on eight completions. Philip Rivers only managed to gain two completions but did throw for a TD. Melvin Gordon and Hunter Henry led the way on receiving with a combined 77 yards and one TD. On the ground, the Chargers averaged around 4.3 yards per carry with Kenneth Farrow leading with 60 yards on 16 carries.

Game Prediction: San Diego will win but not cover. Take the Cardinals plus the points.

Baltimore Ravens vs Indianapolis Colts

  • Time: Saturday, August 20, 2016 7:00 PM ET
  • Place: Lucas Oil Stadium
  • Betting Line: Colts -3
  • Total: 41

Bet on the Ravens

The Ravens seemed sluggish in the first game versus the Carolina Panthers but managed to win in the end. Baltimore wasn’t able to score in the first quarter but did in the second. The offense was led by Ryan Mallett, who completed 73.3 percent of his passes with a TD and one interception to his name. Joe Flacco sat out in the first game but is expected to play against the Colts.

Though none of the first stringers played much, Baltimore looked fairly well and probably will turn the heat up a bit in this game.

Bet on the Colts

As for the Colts, they also didn’t play at full force and had most of their first stringers sit out in the first game. Quarterback Andrew Luck did not get playing time which opened the door to Scott Tolzien and Stephen Morris to lead the offense at the QB position. Tolzien completed 52.2 percent of his passes while Morris was slightly better at 55.6 percent completion.

The Colts relied on their passing game with Tevaun Smith leading the way with three receptions to his name while Josh Boyce and Phillip Dorsett had two receptions a piece.

Game Prediction: Indianapolis Colts win and cover. We have the game ending at 24 to 16 Colts.
