The 2016 Euro Cup
The 2016 Euro Cup kicks off today, much to the relief of football fans everywhere. And, with so many great matches taking place for the next month, it’s hard to say, for now, who will make it to the Final. However, we’ve got a few free predictions just for you on tomorrow’s matches, keep reading to get them.
Albania vs Switzerland
Though geographically these two countries are far apart, both of these teams have strong ties which make this an interesting game to watch.
Albania’s squad has 10 members in their ranks, which were either born in Switzerland or grew up there. And, six players on the Swiss team have family in Albania or Kosovo.
Though Albania has yet to win a match against Switzerland, losing five and tying one, they might turn things around in this match. Albania also doesn’t have a main scorer, with six different players finding the back of the net in the qualifying games.
Switzerland also hasn’t fared well in the Euro Cup, not being able to pass through to the knockout stage and, in fact, only winning 1 of 9 matches in this tournament.
This is expected to be a low-scoring game, Albania is going with a 5-4-1 formation, which will make it hard for the Swiss team to score. However, we see Switzerland taking the win.
England vs Russia
England passed through the qualifying rounds with flying colors. Though their wins over Turkey, Australia and Portugal in the warm up games were slim, they were wins nevertheless. And, they also are the only team to have won all of their qualifying fixtures.
Some controversy has surrounded team captain Wayne Rooney. In fact, Russia coach Leonid Slutsky claims the England captain is "not the player that he was"; however, the Manchester United striker insists he is fully focused on the upcoming game.
In contrast, Russia failed to win any of their warm-up games, with loses to France and the Czech Republic followed by a 1-1 draw with Serbia.
However, striker Artem Dzyuba has been touted as a potential dangerman, having found the back of net nine times in 18 international appearances. Russia though has been hobbled by injuries to its players, with Igor Denisov, Alan Dzagoev, Denis Cheryshev, Yuri Zhirkov and Oleg Kuzmin all sidelined.
We expect England to have another good match and winning 1-0.
Wales vs Slovakia
There are many glaring similarities between these two squads. It’s the first time for both to be participating in a European Championship and they both rely on their strikers to win games.
However, Slovakia appears on paper to be the better squad. Martin Skrtel and Jan Durica will make it hard for Bale to score. Also, Marek Hamsik is in top form at the moment and is playing extremely well this season for Napoli -- scoring six goals and laying on 11 assists in 38 Serie A matche. If given freedom on the pitch, he will be able to set up attacks and break into Wales’ box. His great vision makes Slovakia's attack deadly and will hurt Wales if they don't close him down.
Our money is on Slovakia to score first and get the win.
