Bet on Real Madrid
Real Madrid heads into this match as the favorites. However, this year’s Atletico is, perhaps, much better poised to win than back in 2014. This should give Real Madrid something to think about, considering how Atletico came to be in the final (defeating Barcelona and Bayern).
Read Madrid also had a big scare this week, after Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a knock to his thigh which raised more than one person’s blood pressure. However, the attacker was back in practice on Wednesday and manager Zinedine Zidane feels he’ll be fit to play come Saturday.
This is good news for Los Blancos. Though Atletico’s defense is as tough as nails, which can be confirmed by Barca’s trio of Messi, Neymar Jr., and Suarez, Real’s own trident of Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Ronaldo might be effective enough to crack through it.
Backed by the abilities of midfielder Toni Kroos along with that of Luca Modric’s and Casemiro, if Real can control the ball at mid, it should open up plenty of opportunities to score, especially for Ronaldo.
Bet on Atletico Madrid
Though beating Barcelona and Bayern back-to-back to reach the final, Atletico still finds itself the underdogs. Diego Simeone’s crew is second to none however and have a great shot at turning the tide this year with their style of play.
As mentioned above, Atletico’s defensive stratagem has proved to be an iron curtain that’s practically impossible to score against even for best attackers in the world. In fact, Atletico has kept 8 clean sheets in their 12 Champions League matches this season. Diego Godin, goalkeeper Jan Oblak and Juanfran along with Gabi form the backbone of the defense.
Atletico also has a very dangerous man up front. Antoine Griezmann has proved to be deadly-effective as a striker. The Frenchman is able to score goals with both his legs and is also capable of sealing the deal in the air despite his short stature.
Griezmann is quick and strong. All in all, he’s a well-balanced player that can get behind Real Madrid’s defenses at the turn of a dime. He’ll be vying to score first and take the early lead.
Game Predictions: Griezmann and Ronaldo will be each team’s key players in this match. Both will score and will make this game a nail-biter. In the end, Atletico will come out on top. Atletico will raise La Orejona at San Siro.
