UEFA Champions League Predictions

While America is focused on the NFL and NCAA Football this week, Europe is anticipating the matches happening on week 2 of the UEFA Champions League.

With plenty of surprises, including a couple of unexpected losses by Roma, Porto, Arsenal, and the 5-0 pounding of Dinamo Zagreb by Bayern Munich, we can all get ready to give out a few UEFA Champions League predictions for day 2.

Let’s take a look at a few important games:

Manchester City vs. Monchengladbach

Both of these teams were defeated in week 1 of the UEFA Champions. The Manchester City Citizens were defeated by Juventus by a score of 2-1 at home, while Borussia Monchengladbach dropped their week 1 match against Sevilla 3-0.

The only difference, is that while Monchengladbach  have won their last two Bundesliga matches, which gives them some motivation, Manchester City has lost their last two Premier League games.

This game doesn’t seem to bode well for the Citizens. Heading into Germany, the last time they were there they lost to Bayern Munich back in September 2014 and they’ve also lost a total of 6 games, while only winning 2. And, while the UEFA Champions League odds have the Premier League squad as the favorites to win, this might be another upset in the makings.

Manchester United vs. Wolfsburg

Manchester City will attempt to get fans riled up at Old Trafford when they face visiting opponents Wolfsburg.

Having lost their first game against PSV, the Premier League team is desperate for a win against a tough opponent that will give them stiff competition. Although Wolfsburg was just defeated by an appalling 5-1 score by Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich, they are still a very competitive team.

The Red Devils have the edge over Wolfsburg, having won both of the previous matches these two have played in previous years by a score of 2-1 at Old Trafford and 3-1 in Germany. We expect that the Red Devils will win this one as well.

Real Madrid vs. Malmo

Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid, will be without Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez, Sergio Ramos and Pepe. This might complicate their match against Malmo, though they still hold the top spot ahead of French champions Paris Saint-Germain, who also play on Wednesday against Shakhtar.

The Swedish team has a tough road ahead, having lost against PSG in their first game. And, it’s highly unlikely that they’ll be able to pull the upset against a Real Madrid, that although slightly crippled, still has enough stars,  including Cristiano Ronaldo, to win this match.

Juventus vs. Sevilla

The Italian team is struggling at home in Serie A. That’s why a win at UEFA might give them enough motivation to pick themselves up for hopefully another successful run this year.

Meanwhile, the Spanish squad has enjoyed some success in winning 3-0 over rivals Borussia Monchengladbach in its opening Group D match. However, as for Juve, they can’t seem to get things going in La Liga, having only five points in six games so far.

This will certainly be an interesting game to watch as both teams are counting on the win to spark things off in their respective home leagues.

There you have them, a few games for you to watch in the exciting UEFA Champions League.
