The second day of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals continues today with two great games pitting Paris Saint-Germain against Manchester City and Real Madrid vs Wolfsburg. Keep reading for the game preview.

Manchester City vs Paris Saint Germain

  • Time: Wednesday, April 06, 2016 2:45 PM ET

Betting on Manchester City

Man City finally made it to the quarterfinals of the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history, after winning over Dynamo Kiev in the Round of 16. However, it wasn’t easy for the British team, passing through on a 3-1 aggregate score.

And, the road ahead is even harder, now facing Paris Saint-Germain. Now, British teams haven’t had too much success against French teams and PSG has won over Premier League teams all four games played.

PSG have won three of their four home European matches this year, only tying with Spanish giants Real Madrid on their home pitch. Their last Champions League home defeat came at the hands of defending champions Barcelona in the quarterfinal stage last year.

The Citizens are also starting this game hobbled by injuries to its players. Raheem Sterling, Fabian Delph and captain Vincent Kompany will all miss the match against PSG.  Yaya Toure might also miss the match due to a heel problem.

It’s fair to say that Parc des Princes is not welcoming to Man City, though they’ve been successful in away games, only losing to Juventus this season. With Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne leading the attack, the Citizens will create ample opportunities to score.

Betting on Paris Saint Germain

Parc des Princes has been rock-solid for PSG. The French powerhouse won the Ligue 1 title this year and demolished the competition by a margin of 25 points despite six games to go in the season. Even in the French Cup, PSG has already made it to the quarterfinals with their latest victory against AS Saint-Etienne.

They’re also well-poised in the Champions, cutting through Chelsea on a 4-2 aggregate in the last round. Obviously, the driving motor of this team is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who along with Angel DeMaria, have combined to make a lethal attacking machine.

Ibra has not only scored four goals in this competition, but has added 30 goals in Ligue 1. Undoubtedly, facing Man City is something that he’s looking forward to considering how hampered City’s defensive ranks are.

Game Prediction: Paris Saint-Germain will crush Manchester City 3-1.

Real Madrid vs VFL Wolfsburg

  • Time: Wednesday, April 06, 2016 2:45 PM ET

Betting on Real Madrid

Real Madrid is accustomed to winning and this year they’re in the hunt for their 11th Champions League title, after having knocked out AS Roma in the last round.

They also have the momentum going, after having won El Clasico against Barcelona last weekend 2-1. Though still trailing Barcelona in La Liga, the Galacticos are now within seven points of their arch-rivals in the team standings.

Ronaldo capped off the win fo Real Madrid in that match scoring the winner late in game and ending  Barcelona’s impressive 39-match unbeaten run at Camp Nou. The Portuguese star has been fantastic this year, scoring 42 goals just this campaign. Two of those goals came in Real Madrid’s 4-0 victory over AS Roma in the Champions. Ronaldo leads in scoring in this competition with 13 goals to his name.

Real Madrid has a great shot of notching up another win against Wolfsburg today, considering how effective they’ve been while on the road. Los Galacticos have won eight of their last 11 Champions League games on foreign soil that included the 2-0 road win over AS Roma in the Round of 16. Real Madrid has also been victorious in three of their last four away games against German teams, scoring 12 goals during that four-game span.

Betting on VFL Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg keeps on ticking. After winning over Gent with a 4-2 aggregate score, the German team finds itself in the quarterfinals for the first time in the club’s history. Though not many people believed Wolfsburg would make it past the Round of 16 after drawing Manchester United and PSV Eindhoven in the group phase, the Germans have quieted the naysayers with great football.

Wolfsburg has nevertheless not been as effective in the Bundesliga as of late, which might weigh heavily in their confidence. Since passing through the Round of 16 they’ve lost two of their last three Bundesliga matches, including a crushing 3-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen over the weekend.

It’s not enough to say that their next match is ever the more difficult, as Real Madrid is as tough of an opponent as they come. Though Wolfsburg has defended their home pitch well, winning all four Champions League matches played there, they’ve not faced the 10-time UEFA League champions before. Regardless, the German team will has only lost one of their last seven Champions League games at home.

To win, the Germans will have to clamp down on defense and not allow Real Madrid but an inch. Wolfsburg has allowed five goals over the last three matches and Real Madrid is still unbeaten in this year’s competition.

Game Prediction: Real Madrid will continue their way towards their 11th League title, winning over Wolfsburg in this game 2-1.
