CFB Odds: Seminoles and Tide Lead as Futures Favorites!

You are here

Seminoles and Crimson Tide

The defending national champion Florida State Seminoles were the people’s choice at BetPhoenix College Football Futures board at +325 to repeat as national champions for the 2014 season while the dethroned 2012 champion Alabama Crimson Tide was the second choice at +550 to win the 2014 national title. The Tide and Seminoles led an interesting list of teams and prices as spring football was in full swing and fans were already salivating for the start of college football in August!

Other Teams of Note

The Auburn Tigers, who lost the national championship game this past January against Florida State, were a +1500 choice to win the national championship with the CFB odds. The Clemson Tigers were at +5000, Georgia Bulldogs +4000, LSU Tigers +2000, Michigan Wolverines +4500, Michigan State Spartans +2000, Missouri Tigers +4000, Notre Dame Fighting Irish +5000, Ohio State Buckeyes +1000, Oklahoma Sooners +1200, Oregon Ducks +800, Stanford Cardinal +3000, Texas A&M Aggies +7000, UCLA Bruins +2000, and Wisconsin Badgers were +3000.

Of Thought

This is not your father’s Michigan Wolverines as the Bo Schembechler days of glory and dominance are over. Under head coach Brady Hoke the Wolverines have regressed and have also, just as bad, have looked weak and lacking the toughness that their historically oriented fans demand. Not only is Michigan nothing but a “name brand” from the past, much like Notre Dane, but is likely facing a decision in regards to whether Hoke stays are goes.

Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban has been his cranky self and was hoping to get a bizarre rules change in which teams running a hurry up offense would be charged for a delay of game. Luckily the clods on the rules committee finally did something right and rejected the proposal.

Auburn could be crashing back down to earth after catching lightning in a bottle with a miracle run to the BCS championship game last year and that will be extremely hard to repeat as will their betting value as the public has a habit of chasing last year’s results when betting. Head coach Gus Malzahn should remember that former Auburn coach Gene Chizik was fired just 2 years after winning the national title!
