Intense Holiday opened up with 12-1 odds to win the 2014 Kentucky Derby. The horse will be listed behind the favorite California Chrome but the horse has an excellent trainer and an excellent jockey and he might be able to surprise the favorite on Saturday.

Intense Holiday
The horse is trained by Todd Pletcher and he is ridden by John Velazquez. The horse’s sire was Harlan’s Holiday while the Dam was Intensify from Unbridled's Song. Intense Holiday is owned by Starlight Racing. The horse has two wins in eight starts. The horse is known as one that simply grinds away. The horse needs a fast pace to have any chance of winning the Kentucky Derby. The horse was too close in the Louisiana Derby and finished second to Vicar’s in Trouble.
Todd Pletcher
It is hard to argue with the success that Todd Pletcher has had recently. He has sent 36 horses in the Kentucky Derby in recent years and he won it with Super Saver in 2010. Intense Holiday had an excellent workout last Sunday at Churchill Downs and Pletcher said he was really pleased. "Everything we were hoping to see," he said. "… I thought that was exceptionally good this morning."

Exercise rider Isabelle Bourez said he horse is doing really well at Churchill Downs leading up to the race. She said Intense Holiday is "very nice and he does whatever we ask him to do. But since he's been here, he's acting happier than usual, probably because he likes the track and the cold weather.”
The favorite in the Kentucky Derby is California Chrome and he is expected to go off with odds of about 3-1. The next group of horses is expected to be Wicked Strong, Hoppertunity and Danza at about 6-1 and then it is Intense Holiday listed with odds of about 10-1 along with Samraat and Vicar’s in Trouble. There is a good chance that Intense Holiday goes off at double-digit odds at post time on Saturday.
