Most Watched Fight

When the boxer with the perfect record, a fighter who cannot be beat, and the young MMA star, a rags to riches story told in blood and guts, decided it was time for a fight, history was made.

Experts allover are still expecting the frenzy to grow even further before it culminates in one of the most viewed events in sports history.

The record numbers are so staggering, that there’s even a line for how many will view the fight as well as many other proposition bets.

What Is The Fight Strategy?

It’s hard to gauge a fighter if he’s fighting outside of the context of the sport he competes in.

It’s also the reason why there are so many reasons why people believe McGregor doesn’t have much of a winning chance.

Though Conor is a better all-around fighter because of the sport he competes in, he’s stepping into the ring with a boxer who never lost a fight through the 49 occasions he was challenged in.

You can probably compare this fight to David and Goliath’s and still fall short of how difficult it’ll be for McGregor to beat this boxer at his own game.

It’s Mayweather’s World…

No one can say that you can get lucky 49 times in a row. It’s doesn’t matter who you’re fighting.

Yes, Mayweather has always chosen his opponents carefully. But, most of them have been fierce opponents. You cannot deny that it’s a great accomplishment, especially in this sport.

Floyd lands a lot of punches, doesn’t spend time throwing them, and he’s very hard to hit. He’s a master at controlling the fight.

McGregor is not even by the furthest stretch in imagination at a level that a boxer like Mayweather fights in.

So, how can Mcgregor hope to beat Mayweather?

McGregor is a better clincher. Granted, clinching isn’t what you’ve seen in Mayweather fights, but that’s entirely the reason it can be used as an advantage.

The clinch isn’t illegal, you’ll see fighters clinching throughout rounds. They’re quickly separated, but this doesn’t diminish its effectiveness when you want to tire out a fighter.

Tie-up Mayweather

Mayweather is a smaller fighter, so McGregor would do well to fight some dirty boxing. He’ll want to tie-up Mayweather as much he can and try to fight on the inside.

McGregor has the age advantage, as a fighter that’s half the age of his opponent. McGregor is also an explosive fighter, and he should be patient to wait for an opportunity to strike.

Why Mayweather Loses

Floyd may have fallen into a trap. Believing in his invincibility.

The fight somewhat reminds me of Rocky III, when Rocky is living the high-life of having seven cars, robots that bring him coffee, and doing a bunch of ads and talk shows. Clubber Lang knocks him back into reality.

It’s a vision McGregor has used before, and surely remembers, before his fight with Jose Aldo.

I’m not saying Mayweather is not ready, but is he taking the fight as seriously as he should?

Perhaps not; Mayweather recently said that he’d be partying every single night before his showdown with Conor McGregor at his strip club “Girl Collection.”

And, yet it could be part of the psychological game, lulling McGregor into believing he has a shot.

Mayweather’ taking it so calmly suggests he is not feeling any pressure that comes with keeping an undefeated streak — against a UFC fighter no less.

However, by his own words, he states: “When a fighter has lost before, if he loses again they say, ‘Oh, it’s nothing, he’s lost before,’” Mayweather said on a conference call Thursday. “But when a fighter has been dominating for 20-some years and never lost, everything is on the line.

“My legacy. My boxing record. Everything is on the line.”

What The Betting Public Says

Surprisingly, the betting public gives much credence that McGregor can win. Even as the fight inched closer, the odds that once had Mayweather as a -3500 favorite, have moved to -400.

Undoubtedly, the line will continue shifting this week as money pours in from each fighter’s fan base.

They might not be too far fetched in believing Conor has a chance of winning.

When you consider that Floyd Mayweather will be 41 years old this year, how strong a punch McGregor carries, and how dangerous it would be for Mayweather to be careless against a fighter who can hurt him.

Not many people believed Jeff Horn could beat Pacquiao, and what happened in that fight? Anything can happen when two fighters step into the ring.

What The Experts Think

Though most experts don’t give McGregor much of a shot, there are some who know him better enough to count him out.

Such is the case of UFC Owner Dana White, who recently made an uncharacteristic prediction, saying he expects McGregor to knock out Mayweather.

“He’s a special kid. I call him the unicorn, he’s different to anyone I’ve ever dealt with.” Says Dana, “I like how he is willing to put everything on the line. I’ve never seen anybody who believes in himself more than this guy does. When he makes up his mind about what he’s going to do, he absolutely 100% believes it, breathes it, lives it, it’s fascinating.”

What Do Rappers Think?

When you ask 25 rappers who they think will win the fight, you can bet you’ll get as many different answers.

But, in general they seem to have their money on Mayweather. And, rappers should know a thing or two about fighting.

Whether the public or experts are right, still remains to be seen. There is one thing at least that manGreat Pyramid of Gizay people may not have considered.

There’s a lot of money that will be shelled out for this fight. Up to this point, the pyramid of cash seems to be growing higher than the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Which means both fighters will be fattening their purses to bursting regardless if they win or not. So, the better question to ask is…

What Is The Fight Purse?

The Mayweather-Pacquiao fight in 2015 broke pay-per-view records when 4.5 million people paid just over $99 bucks to watch it.

This fight is expected to bring in around some $300 million as the fight purse, and, while the exact split is confidential it could be 70-0 or 75-25 in Mayweather's favour.

This means that Mayweather stands to make around $230 million and McGregor will make around $70 million.

Why You Should Bet This Fight

Whatever your thoughts are on this fight, it’s a historic event if anything because of the hype it’s created.

I think even if Mayweather does end up scrubbing the ring with McGregor’s face, it’s a nice opportunity to place a bet on at least one of the dozens of prop bets available.

And, just to continue the story on this fight, take a look at this great trailer while we wait for August 26.
