The UEFA Champions League Picks and Predictions For Wednesday, February 17th

The UEFA Champions League kicked off again today with a couple of games that pitted Chelsea vs Paris Saint-Germain and Zenit vs Benfica, it continues on Wednesday, February 17th with two more games which you can read the preview on just below.

VFL Wolfsburg vs Gent

  • Time: Wednesday, February 17, 2016 2:45 PM ET

Bet on Wolfsburg

After knocking out the British powerhouse, Manchester United out of this competition, the German team now hosts Gent on their home pitch. If you recall, Wolfsburg only needed a draw against Man U at home to pass and they finished 3-2 and at the top of Group A with a total of four wins with only two losses in the group stage.

Wolfsburg, however, might not be at full strength at this point after having released Kevin De Bruyne to Manchester City. De Bruyne was key to Wolfsburg’s performance in the Bundesliga and might affect them in the Champions at this stage in the competition.

They are however playing at home, where they’ve been better at defending against opponents. With the combination of Julian Draxler, Andre Schurrle and Max Kruse, Wolfsburg might be able to crack the stern Gent defense.

Bet on Gent

Gent is living a fairytale pass through the Champions as the only Belgian team in 15 years to make it to this stage in this competition, despite the limited talent they have.

After having defeated their last three group opponents, Valencia, Lyon, and Zenit, they’ve earned their ticket to the knockout stage. Undoubtedly, they are the heavy underdogs and have nothing to lose and everything to gain at this point.

They’ll be hoping for midfielder Danijel Milisevic to continue producing goals for them as the only Gent player that has scored more than one goal in the group stage.

Free Pick: Gent will score on German ground, however Wolfsburg will win 2-1.

Real Madrid vs A.S. Roma

  • Time: Wednesday, February 17, 2016 2:45 PM ET

Bet on Real Madrid

There’s no denying that new manager Zinedine Zidane has woken up Real Madrid. Real have now gone six games undefeated under the French coach and have as many as four goals in four games played.

Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, has been his usual self and tops the scoring charts with 11 goals in just six games. However, the Spanish powerhouse might still be without Gareth Bale for this game, though not lacking other, equally as good, players.

Bet on A.S. Roma

Roma is grasping at straws after a horrendous showing in the group stage, where they gave up 16 goals and only won one of six matches played. Despite this, they somehow managed the second spot, behind Barcelona in Group E, edging out Leverkusen for the pass to the knockout stage.

However, they now seem to be pulling their act together under new head manager Luciano Spalletti winning their last four league games straight and climbing to the fourth spot in the rankings.

With new transfer Stephan El Shaarawy, on loan from AC Milan, the team now has a balanced attack that along with Mohamed Salah and  Miralem Pjanic is proving to be deadly effective.

Free Pick: Roma will defend the home pitch. Real Madrid will score but this game ends in a draw 2-2.
