Orb is a top favorite with the horse racing odds for the Derby based in large part due to his win in the Florida Derby on March 30. “Shug” McGaughey III is the trainer and Joel Rosario is the jockey.

Verrazano is trained by Todd Pletcher which in and of itself is a big draw as is jockey John Velazquez, who has ridden in 13 Kentucky Derby races and was the winner in 2011 aboard Animal Kingdom.

Goldencents was the winner of the April 6 Santa Anita Derby and is trained by Dou O’Neil with jockey Kevin Krigger. Rick Pitino, head coach of the NCAA Basketball Champion Louisville Cardinals, is a part owner.
