MLB Games To Bet On Today, Previews and Predictions

Will Kershaw pay the Rockies back for what happened on Apr. 8? Who will win the pitching duel between Felix Hernandez for the Seattle Mariners and Edinson Volquez for Miami Marlins?

Miami Marlins vs Seattle Mariners

  • When: Wednesday, April 19, 2017 3:40 PM ET
  • Where: Safeco Field – Seattle, WA
  • Moneyline: Mariners -143 vs Marlins +133
  • Over/Under: 7.5
  • Starting Pitchers: MIA E Volquez - SEA Felix Hernandez.

Analysis: Wei-Yin Chen (2-0, 3.94 ERA) provided the magic for the Marlins as they paid back the Mariners victory on Monday with an 5-0 defeat Tuesday night. The Marlins’ offense was hitting away with Derek Dietrich and Justin Bour performing well going 4-for-7 for two RBIs and two runs – Bour had a two-run homer in the 3rd inning. The Marlins give the nod to Edinson Volquez tonight; the 12-year veteran has thrived against the Mariners, owning a 5-0 record and a 2.66 ERA against them overall. Meanwhile, the Mariners just dropped off a four-game winning streak. Not only was starter Yovani Gallardo not up to snuff, but the entire team didn’t not perform well. Seattle was only able to hit once in 28 total at-bats in the game, which reflects in their poor batting average that’s below .230. Not Robinson Cano, Kyle Seager, or Nelson Cruz is having a good year. Felix Hernandez (1-1, 2.95 ERA) will be the Mariners’ starter for the series finale and he hopes to get Miami back in the saddle.

Game Prediction: Marlins win.

Colorado Rockies vs Los Angeles Dodgers

  • When: Wednesday, April 19, 2017, 10:10 PM ET
  • Where: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles
  • Moneyline: Los Angeles -245 vs Colorado +225
  • Over/Under: 6.5
  • Starting Pitchers: COL Tyler Anderson  (1-2) ERA: 8.59 - LA C Kershaw (2-1) ERA: 2.53

Analysis: If not for the Rockies’ proficient offense, Colorado would be sinking fast. The Rockies pitchers are shaky and tonight’s starter, Tyler Anderson, doesn’t sit well with me. In Anderson’s season debut, he gave up five earned runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings in a 6-5 road victory over Milwaukee on Apr. 4. But, Dodgers’ starter Clayton Kershaw will be looking to sour the Rockies hitters, paying them back for what they gave him back on Apr. 8  when they scored four runs on eight hits, including a pair of homers, off the southpaw in a 4-2 home win. Kershaw is currently 2-1 with a 2.53 ERA and 0.70 WHIP. Both his wins so far were at home, where the Dodgers are practically unbeatable when Kershaw is making a start.

Game Prediction: Dodgers win.

Cleveland Indians vs Minnesota Twins

  • When: Wednesday, April 19, 2017, 8:10 PM ET
  • Where: Target Field— Minneapolis, MN
  • Moneyline: Cleveland -139 vs Minnesota +129
  • Over/Under: 8.5
  • Starting Pitchers: CLE T Bauer (0-2) ERA: 8.43 - MIN Adalberto Mejia (0-1) ERA: 4.05

Analysis: The Indians are up two games in this series and gave the job to Trevor Bauer to close it out with a win. Bauer fizzled out in his last start, giving up six runs on eight hits, including two home runs, in a loss to Detroit. Versus Minnesota, he carries a 1-5 record with a 5.32 ERA and a total of 60 K’s in 11 career starts. Jose Ramirez and Edwin Encarnacion are tasked with carrying Cleveland again. The two went 3-for-8 combined with five RBIs and one dinger each in the previous game. Meanwhile, getting the nod for the Twins is Adalberto Mejia (0-1, 4.05 ERA).  The offense improved in the second game against the Indians; Minny hit four runs, including a Miguel Sano home run in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Game Prediction: Minnesota wins.
