Bet on the Cavaliers

King James will not be denied. Try to put one over him and you’ll get what he dished out last Monday night.

Lebron was all over the court, putting up points, grabbing rebounds and passing the ball around. All in all, he wound up with 25 points, 7 boars and 9 assists. And, when it came down to the line, he was there. The Cavs will need him to lead in tonight’s game as well.

And, James not only fired himself up, his actions apparently also got Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love in the flow. Between the two they put up a total of 38 points and they’ll be needed tonight if the Cavs are to win.

Overall, Cleveland has an eight-game series winning streak versus Atlanta. However, they’ll need to get into a flow early in the game and not have to rely on James to pick things up in the last period. Atlanta actually led most of the game, so it’s especially important to capture the early lead.

Bet on the Hawks

The Hawks did a decent job at keeping Lebron and the Cavs on a leash. As mentioned above, Atlanta was neck and neck for the first three and a half periods and actually leading at one point in the fourth quarter.

But, Lebron, being Lebron, jumped to life in the final period to close strong, going on a 17-5 run to eventually win the game. Atlanta therefore will have to find a way of putting a lid on James as well as keeping Irving and Love in check.

Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague will have to step things up on offense. Though they had a good game, when you’re matched up with the likes of James you have to put up as many points as you can.

Of course, defense will be critical in game 2. If they can keep the ball away from Lebron and Irving, they’ll have a much better shot at winning. The Hawks don’t really have any one man to match up with Lebron on man-to-man coverage, they’ll have to double team him and perhaps do a better job with perimeter defense. However, that leaves an opening for Irving, something which they’ll have to adjust to.
