Betting on the Celtics

The Celtics wouldn’t have it and did not roll over to take another loss in Game 3. Boston pulled out all the stops and won in Cleveland 111-108.

The win came despite Isaiah Thomas’ absence, which for all intents and purposes gave the Celtics more amplitude and seemingly sharpened their perimeter shots. Boston hit 18 of 14 shots from downtown with March Smart accounting from seven threes.

However, Avery Bradley was the real leader in this game, putting up 20 points including three from beyond the three point line. Al Horford nevertheless continues to struggle and up to this point has only gone 15 of 28 from the field through three games.

The Celtics’ bench did step up with the pair of Jonas Jerebko and Kelly Olynyk accounting for a combined 25 points and plenty of power from within the paint.

Betting on the Cavaliers

Was Game 3 a case for Boston winning it or Cleveland resting on their laurels? Whatever the case, the Cavaliers lost a 21 point lead and the game.

What’s more, LeBron James had an uncharacteristic off night only managing 11 points on 4 of 13 shooting from the field with six turnovers. Nevertheless, don’t expect him to wallow and despair rather look forward to another big performance as in the first two games. James is putting up 32.2 points on 55.4 FG%, 8.3 rebounds, and 7.0 assists.

Other notables include Kevin Love who put up 28 points with seven three-pointers, while also bringing in 10 rebounds.  Love is also averaging 27.0 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 5.7 threes per game in these conference finals.

Betting Trends

  • Boston is 10-4 ATS in its last 14 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Boston's last 7 games
  • Boston is 6-2 ATS in its last 8 games on the road
  • Cleveland is 5-1-1 ATS in its last 7 games
  • Cleveland is 10-1 SU in its last 11 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 14 of Cleveland's last 19 games

Pick and Prediction: Like I said, don’t put too much hope in the Celtics bringing in another win. It’s unlikely James will have another off night and I expect him to be firing on all cylinders. Cleveland wins but doesn’t cover at -15. ATS bet is Boston at +15.
