NBA Futures Betting Stock At The Trade Deadline

You are here

The NBA trade deadline is around the bend, Feb. 23, and with it every franchise attempts to bulk up its assets to make the best of it. In such a competitive environment, even the most unlikely of changes can win big in the long run. Especially when the stakes are high, it pays to stay in the rumor mill to figure out if there’s an opportunity to place some NBA futures bets. Here are some of the best happenings going on in the grapevine.

NBA Futures Betting Stock At The Trade Deadline

Philadelphia 76ers

It may pay off big time for Philadelphia should they choose to hold on to Jahlil Okafor for some time, at least, if they get a first round pick from the Pelicans. Any other circumstance and they might be selling themselves short.

Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets are in a conundrum. On the one hand, Nikola Jonik has taken Denver up a notch in its competitiveness. On the other hand, Jonik’s presence has shadowed the touted Jusuf Nurkic to the extent that there are some rumblings of dissatisfaction with his job. Not only that, but Denver’s management may be suffering from other misgivings which may cause enough turmoil to knock them off course.

Los Angeles Clippers

Upon close attention, the Clippers aren’t nearly at the level of the Spurs or Warriors, at least not at the competitiveness needed to make it to the postseason with any success. J.J. Redick hits the open market in the summer, while Chris Paul and Blake Griffin might choose to take an early termination if something better comes along which puts the Clippers between a rock and hard place given they have nothing to give in return.

New Orleans Pelicans

There’s still no answer in whether or not Pelicans’ management can pair someone up with Anthony Davis at center. It might be Okafor, as mentioned above, or there are reports that it could be Dwight Howard, Nikola Vucevic, or Brook Lopez but whoever it is, it’s clear they want to take Davis off center and keep him happy.

New York Knicks

It’s hard to tell what the heck is going on in all the Carmelo Anthony drama. Not that the Knicks have to trade him, but they seem intent of going ahead provided they convince him to waive his no-trade clause. The rift between Phil Jackson and Anthony is rampant and dysfunctional and it’s still far from playing out. But, what is certain is that whatever happens every Knicks fan is in store for a prime time soap opera.

Toronto Raptors

The Raptors aren’t necessarily in dire straits as the deadline approaches. But, since DeMar DeRozan’s absence due to injury, the chinks in Toronto’s armor was made evident and continues to show as their offensive and defensive ratings continue to plummet this year. The franchise should be looking towards freshening up their ranks and make it more competitive lest they lose Kyle Lowry who will be a free agent this summer.
