Three NBA Predictions For Today

Atlanta Hawks vs Washington Wizards

  • When: March 22, 2017, 8:00 PM ET
  • Where: Verizon Center
  • Spread: Wizards -7
  • Over/Under: 215.5

Analysis: The Hawks are at this point a sinking ship. Currently, Atlanta has lost four games in a row  and I don’t really see them picking breaking that streak against the third-seeded Washington. Without Paul Millsap and Kent Bazemore, Atlanta can’t seem to get anything going and play sloppily. But, on the other hand, the Wizards also are on a streak of their own, losing four out of their last five games, which by the way put them two and half games behind the Celtics in the East. Nevertheless, Washington is playing better ball than the Hawks; against the Celtics, six players scored in double digits and they’ll also be getting power forward Markieff Morris for this game. In other words, I have high confidence Washington will notch a win.

Game Prediction: Wizards win.

Philadelphia 76ers vs Oklahoma City Thunder

  • When: March 22, 2017, 8:00 PM ET
  • Where: Chesapeake Energy Arena
  • Spread: Thunder -11.5
  • Over/Under: 218.5

Analysis: The hard truth for the 76ers is that they’re 0-10 vs Oklahoma City in their last 10 games. Granted, they’ve been improving over their last three games, but it’s not going to the enough to stop Oklahoma City from defeating them. It’s also true that Russell Westbrook had a sluggish night against Golden State which resulted in a 111-95 Thunder loss. But, Westbrook is bound to recover against Philly. Last time around these two played, Westbrook put up 32 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists to lead the Thunder to a 103-87 victory. And, you can reasonably assume he’ll have another great night.

Game Prediction: Thunder wins by a big margin. Bet it at -11.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Denver Nuggets

  • When: March 22, 2017, 9:00 PM ET
  • Where: Pepsi Center
  • Spread: Cavaliers -3
  • Over/Under: 227

Analysis: Though there’s no telling yet if Cleveland’s power trio of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love will be resting tonight, there’s reason enough to believe Cleveland has a shot at defeating the Nuggets as they did a few weeks back. On that occasion, James and Irving took the lead and ended up scoring 27 points a piece, along with a combined 17 assists. The Cavaliers are still the No. 1 seed in the East though they’ve dipped somewhat going 7-5 since the All-Star break. The Nuggets on the other hand, recently lost to the Rockets twice behind lackluster defensive performances where they allowed James Harden to tag them with 79 points, 17 rebounds, and 21 assists in the pair of meetings. Nevertheless, the Nuggets undoubtedly can go toe-to-toe on offense with the Cavs. If you recall, Denver didn’t back down to the Warriors a month ago, in fact, winning and scoring 24 threes in that game. Nikola Jokic is averaging  20.1 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 5.8 assists, while also shooting 58.4 percent on the floor (34 games) and that’s nothing to sneer at.

Game Prediction: Cavaliers win.
