2017 March Madness - Predictions For Which Team Will Win

There can be only one. One tournament, one game, and no matter what came before, there can be only one champion. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, March Madness 2017 is finally here and anything could happen from here on out. Here are some of my predictions for which team will win.

2017 March Madness - Predictions For Which Team Will Win

To be certain, barring any major upsets, or hair pulling surprises, anyone can reasonably assume which teams make it out of the Round of 64. But, to make it easier, let’s look ahead at which teams are the favorites to make it at least to the Final Four.

North Carolina Tar Heels

Last March Madness wasn’t compassionate to the Tar Heels. In fact, they not only suffered a crushing defeat, they bid farewell to Marcus Paige and Brice Johnson. Nevertheless, though the future looked grim back then, now North Carolina has another shot at the glory with players of the likes of ACC Player of the Year, Justin Jackson, Joel Berry II and Kennedy Meeks. North Carolina has its destiny in its hands once more and you should keep an close eye on them.

Kentucky Wildcats

Though arguably this team can be called green around the edges, Kentucky is nevertheless one of the best squads in the country. Not only do the Wildcats have plenty of fresh blood in the likes of De'Aaron Fox, Malik Monk, and Bam Adebayo, they also have some fairly grizzled veterans in Isaiah Briscoe, Derek Willis, and Dominique Hawkins. This team won’t hold anything back in this competition and you’re bound to see some blazingly fast basketball from them.

Kansas Jayhawks

The Jayhawks cruised to its 13th straight Big 12 title this year. Who cares that they haven’t been as successful as far as NCAA tournament titles is concerned, this program is one of the most successful programs in the history of basketball. Granted, Frank Mason, Josh Jackson, and the rest of Kansas’ squad won’t settle on anything but a win this year, but nevertheless whatever the outcome nobody can deny what this team has accomplished.

Gonzaga Bulldogs

What the Bulldogs have done this year, is nothing short of impressive. Whatever your arguments against Gonzagas’ No. 1 seed in the West, you’d be hard-pressed to counter the Bulldogs’ 32-1 record, wins over Arizona, Florida, Iowa State on neutral floors and thrice defeating Saint Mary’s. Oh, and BTW, let’s not forget this is the No. 1 team in the country, according to KenPom.com, and, it’s been the case for almost two months now. This is the best squad in this program’s history. Period.

Villanova Wildcats

Can this team win it all? Let’s see. Kris Jenkins pouring on the threes. Jalen Brunson, fantastic. Josh Hard one of the best players in the nation. However you look at it, though this team has changed, it remains one of the best in this year’s competition and the most consistent of all. Let’s see, they started with 14 straight wins, finished with 12 top-50 RPI wins, only lost once to an unranked team, never lost to a school that’s not in this NCAA Tournament -- and they won the Big East regular-season title and the Big East Tournament title.
