Bet on the Wildcats
The Kansas State Wildcats have lost five of their last eight games heading into this tournament. However, they already defeated Baylor earlier this season in a 56-54 road victory on Feb. 4. That win could also give them a fair shot at the Big Dance come Selection Sunday.
The Wildcats also ended the regular season with two-straight wins, defeating TCU and Texas Tech. Kansas State’s win over Texas Tech was especially impressive as they cruised to an easy 61-48 win that saw senior forward Wesley Iwundu finishing with his second-straight double-double (10 points, 10 boards). He’s helped by Kamau Stokes, who lead the team in assists with 4.3 per game but has been has been awful as of late in scoring, shooting only 7-of-39 from the field over his last four contests.
Bet on the Bears
The Baylor Bears head into this tournament splitting their last 10 games. Baylor went just 3-3 to finish the regular season, and need a win tonight as well as a strong showing this week to secure a top seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Baylor Bears are averaging 71.9 points on 46.7 percent shooting and allowing 62.8 points on 39.5 percent shooting.
Junior forward Johnathan Motley is the engine that powers the team collecting 17.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.1 blocks this season. Motley, however, will have to kick it up a notch or three with the Bears’ second-leading scorer Manu Lecomte (12.4) sidelined due to injury. Meanwhile, Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. is grabbing 6.9 rebounds and Al Freeman is dishing 1.3 assists. The Baylor Bears are shooting 35.2 percent from beyond the arc and 71.6 percent from the free throw line.
