Super Bowl Weekend 5 Must Bet College Hoops Games

With the 51st Super Bowl just a few days away, it’s understandable that everyone’s eyes will be glued on the Falcons vs Patriots this Super Bowl Sunday. However, if you’re asking what college basketball games to watch this weekend, here are my 5 top picks.

Super Bowl Weekend 5 Must Bet College Hoops Games

No. 1 Kansas at No. 4 Kentucky
When: Thursday, Feb. 2 at 9:00 pm ET
Where: Allen Fieldhouse, Lawrence, KS
TV: ESPN 2

The Jayhawks are in the hunt for a 13th consecutive league title; but, after a loss at West Virginia they might drop in the coaches poll rankings. Frank Mason III and freshman Josh Jackson are the motor that drives KU’s offense, while Devonte’ Graham (13.7 ppg, 4.7 apg) and Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk (10.8 ppg) are outstanding from the perimeter. Meanwhile, Kentucky took a nosedive against Tennessee, breaking a seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. Malik Monk has been instrumental for UK’s offense, while point man De’Aaron Fox moves the ball effectively and creates opportunities for others.

Pick: Kentucky.

No. 13 Virginia at No. 2 Villanova
When: Thursday, Feb. 2 at 9:00 pm ET
Where: Allen Fieldhouse, Lawrence, KS
TV: ESPN 2

Virginia is on a five-game win streak, managing to hang in the ACC race. The Cavaliers top-ranked defense limits opponents to a nation-leading 53.3 points a game. Marial Shayok has stepped up in the absence of Austin Nichols. But, London Perrantes remains UVA’s best player. As for Villanova, the loss at Marquette cast a dark cloud in the Wildcats season. Nevertheless, they remain a solid team; the defending national champs have a much different identity than last season, but it remains a team with title potential. Josh Hart brings strength to the offense, while point guard Jalen Brunson is playing well.

Pick: Villanova

No. 25 Florida at Oklahoma
When: Thursday, Feb. 2 at 9:00 pm ET
Where: Allen Fieldhouse, Lawrence, KS
TV: ESPN 2

After two consecutive losses, the Gators have fallen behind in the SEC title race. However, with a win over LSU, Florida was back to its winning ways. The Gators’ talented roster can compete with any team in the country with the likes of KeVaughn Allen, Canyon Barry, and big man John Egbunu. The Sooners have lost nine of its last 11 including a seven-game losing streak and a devastating one-point road loss at Texas on Monday. More and more, it looks like OK will not make it to the Big Dance.

Pick: Florida

No. 5 Baylor at Ole Miss
When: Thursday, Feb. 2 at 9:00 pm ET
Where: Allen Fieldhouse, Lawrence, KS
TV: ESPN 2

The Bears are a solid 19-1, led by a stout defense that allows just over 60 points per game. The Rebels will have to kick up their shooting up a few notches to pull off a big upset.

Pick: Baylor

Dayton at VCU
When: Thursday, Feb. 2 at 9:00 pm ET
Where: Allen Fieldhouse, Lawrence, KS
TV: ESPN 2

Dayton is in need of a win. However, they have the power to reach far into the NCAA tourney. Seniors Charles Cooke, Scoochie Smith and Kendall Pollard offer a solid and deep lineup. Meanwhile, the Rams are poised to win the Atlantic 10 championship outright this year. Veterans JeQuan Lewis and Mo Alie-Cox are steady producers, while Justin Tillman and Jonathan Williams have stepped up big.

Pick: Dayton.
