If You’re Betting On The Crimson Tide…

It would be hard to argue against anyone contending the Crimson Tide is the best team in 2016. Alabama’s war path to the College Football Playoff is all more impressive considering the offense is led by freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts.

In fact, much of the Tide’s success is due to Hurts and what he brings to the offense in terms of his throwing abilities. Just consider how he performed against Mississippi State, when he threw for 347 yards, four touchdowns and only one interception along with 100 rushing yards and another touchdown on the ground to boot. And, this only showcases what he did in one game; for the season, Hurts has thrown for 2,592 yards, 22 touchdowns, rushed for 841 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns.

Though Alabama’s offense is impressive, its defense is equally solid. In fact, it’ll take a full effort from the defense to stop Jake Browning who has amassed 42 touchdowns with only seven interceptions this year, making him one of the most proficient quarterbacks in the nation. With the likes of defensive end Jonathan Allen, who is one the country’s best pass rushers, the Alabama defense could turn this game into a nightmare for Browning and the Huskies’ offensive line.

If You’re Betting On the Huskies…

If Alabama’s job is to stop Jake Browning, Washington’s task is to attempt to contain Jalen Hurts. This arguably is the Huskies main task at hand because of Hurts’ versatility both in the passing game and via the ground attack. If the Huskies’ defense can put enough pressure on Hurts and force him into making mistakes it’ll make the offense’s job slightly easier.

Apart from Browning’s abilities as a quarterback, much of the Huskies’ success this year comes from having a balanced offense. Washington ranks 31st in passing yards and 37 in rushing yards with Browning and tailback Myles Gaskin combining to form a deadly effective duo that’s hard to contain. Of course, these two haven’t gone up against a defense such as that of the Tide’s and they’ll be pushed to the limit in this game. In order to be successful, the Huskies will have to keep Alabama’s defense off balance by not relying on a one sided attack but rather on a mixed air and ground offensive.

Important Betting Trends To Consider…

  • Washington is 15-1 SU in its last 16 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 11 of Washington's last 16 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Washington's last 5 games
  • Alabama is 6-2 ATS in its last 8 games
  • Alabama is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Alabama's last 6 games

Game Prediction: Nick Saban commands the nation’s best team. With Saban at the helm, the Tide has amassed four national titles in only nine years and may hoist its fifth this year. Jake Browning is a great player, however he’ll face the top-notch Alabama secondary which will dampen his efforts. Apart from that Jalen Hurts, though green around the edges in experience has what it takes to lead this team to glory. Alabama will head on to another championship.

The Final Score is: Washington 30, Alabama 47.
