Why bet on Ohio State?

The Buckeyes picked up momentum in defeating the Wisconsin Badgers, 30-23, last Saturday. Ohio State has a perfect 6-0 record thus far and has won convincingly all of their games by average margin of around 37 points. Clearly, the offense is powering the Buckeyes’ success this year because at 49 points per game on average it’s hard to argue to the contrary. Much of the credit needs to go to quarterback J.T. Barrett who’s been fantastic throughout every game, but Ohio State should probably fan up their running game against Penn State to allow Barrett to do his thing through the air.

The running game was successful against the Terrapins, led by running back Sequon Barkley who rushed for 202 yards and one touchdown. However, against the Buckeyes they Lions will have to focus on defense and try to slow down both Barrett’s passing game and the Buckeyes’ backs. Penn State hasn’t been particularly successful against the run but they did manage to keep the Terrapins to 170 yards on the ground. Run defense will be key if they’re to stay in the game and not be steamrolled by Ohio State.
