Washington Redskins Predictions

The Redskins picked up some steam in defeating the Oakland Raiders in Week 3, 27-10.

It was a solid defensive effort from Washington that dampened the Raiders fast-paced offense.

When all was said and done, the Redskins’ D hit Derek Carr six times and gained four sacks. They also held Oakland’s running backs to only 13 runs for 32 yards.

They’ll need all this and more when facing the only undefeated team in the AFC West, Kansas City Chiefs tonight.

While Washington did a great job of containing Marshawn Lynch while forcing Derek Carr to pass to the sub par receiving corps last week, Kansas City’s offense is very different.

Kareem Hunt has had 401 rushing yards and six touchdowns in three games and he’ll likely have at least one big play which opens up the playbook for Smith.

Heading into Week 4, the Redskins defense is ranked 12th in the NFL in pass defense (209.7 yards allowed per game) with eight sacks (also 12th) and second in the league against the run giving up just 62.3 yards per game.

The Redskins’ offense is also playing well, with Kirk Cousins doing his job against the Raiders.

Cousins connected on 25 of his 30 throws for 365 yards and three TDs, only being sacked once.

Running back Chris Thompson ran for 188 yards and scored one touchdown, while veteran tight end Vernon Davis ran for 58 yards and received one touchdown grab as a replacement for the injured Jordan Reed.

Kansas City Chiefs Predictions

As mentioned above, the Chiefs are the sole undefeated team in the AFC West and are fresh off a win over the Los Angeles Chargers, 24-10.

Alex Smith and the running back/wide receiver duo of Kareem Hunt and Tyreek Hill, continue to be a deadly combination that’s hard to stop.

Smith went 16-for-21 for 155 yards and two TDs while Hill brought in five catches for 77 yards and one touchdown and Hunt running for 172 yards on the ground on 10.2 yards per carry, along with one rushing score.

Star tight end Travis Kelce caught just one pass for one yard on one target, but wasn’t really needed in the game.

The key for this game will be to get going on first and second down even if Hunt is put under a lid.

Smith will need to be spot on with play action to keep the Washington D-line guessing.

While it's unlikely the Chiefs will go 0-for-11 on third down as the Raiders did, avoiding third and long will be critical to establish dominance early on.

The defense is also doing its job going to work on Phillip Rivers, picking him on three occasions and sacking him twice.

Linebacker Justin Houston brought home the bacon with one sack, one tackle for a loss, two PDs, and two hits on Rivers.

Though the Chiefs enter this game as the favorites, both teams are evenly matched up and at full steam which should make it interesting.
