The 2018 NFL season is still just a little over a month away, kicking off on September 6, with the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Atlanta Falcons. Though this game should wet your whistle in anticipation for the new season, there are plenty of great matches you can bet on in the NFL Week 1 calendar.
Though it’s still too early to make accurate predictions, part of the fun of NFL betting is taking a shot at how the opening week’s games might play out.

Choice NFL Week 1 ATS Bets
There are plenty of teams that tend to do well in the opening week of the new season, but a game that stands out for me is the Steelers vs. Browns that has Pittsburgh as a 6-point chalk. There shouldn’t be too many reasons why you put off this bet because the Steelers are bound to steamroll over the Browns.
The Dolphins are playing at home versus the Titans with the spread favoring Tennessee by two points. Though every team looks to notch a win at home to start the season, Miami’s lack of a franchise QB will end up with a Titans Week 1 win.
Choice NFL Week 1 SU Bets
Being able to pocket a few wins at the start of the season can go a long way in making sure you have a successful season. So I’ve dug up some games I believe could start you off on the right footing.
The New Orleans Saints look good this year with some analysts expecting them to reach far into the playoffs. They play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home in their opening game and should win.
I don’t quite buy into all the hoopla surrounding the San Francisco 49ers, at least, for making a pick on their first game of the season when they travel to Minnesota to face a Vikings team that’s as tough as nails in the NFC. I’m picking the Vikings.
The Buffalo Bills lack anyone of any substance at the quarterback position and they face a Ravens team that’s as solid as they come on defense. Baltimore should come away with a win.
Choice NFL Week 1 OVER/UNDER Bets
It wouldn’t surprise me to see the Falcons and Eagles start things off with a big bang in the season opener. The total is looming at 46.5 and I believe it will go way over.
Aaron Rodgers didn’t play for most of the 2017 season because of a collarbone injury, so a buck gets ten he’s itching to come out gunning right out the gate with his sights set on the Chicago Bears. Let’s be honest here, Chicago doesn’t have a prayer at Lambeau and I don’t expect them to do any better this year on the Packers’ home than they have in the past two seasons. The total is at 47.5 currently, but it’s going to be a blowout with Rodgers putting up some major points.
