4 Reasons To Bet On The Pittsburgh Steelers To Win Super Bowl 51

You probably were sweating bullets at some point if your pick at the beginning of the 2016 season for a team to reach Super Bowl 51 was the Pittsburgh Steelers. But, after beating the Miami Dolphins last weekend for one of the NFL wild cards you’re probably breathing easier because your chances to win just got better. In fact, Pittsburgh is now among the favorites to win it all and with good reasons. Just to make it clear, here are my 5 reasons to bet on the Pittsburgh Steelers to win Super Bowl 51.

4 Reasons To Bet On The Pittsburgh Steelers To Win Super Bowl 51

1. It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish

The Steelers hit the ground running this season with a 4-1 start. However, then they fizzled out and went on to lose four-in-a-row. Whatever they did at that point seemed to have worked because since, they shot through seven wins in a row which took them to wild card game and made it eight after defeating the Dolphins. This should be telling even to hardcore doubters that the Steelers can make it all the way.

2. Big Ben, Bell and Brown

It’s more like Ben, Bell, and Brown but that sounds more like a law firm than what makes for the Steelers’ deadly offensive weapons.

Big Ben isn’t exactly the youngest of quarterbacks so a lot of people had their doubts when the chips were down. However, Roethlisberger proved why he’s one of the league’s elite and why he’s been Steel City’s poster boy for well over a decade. Despite not having the best of stats this year and being pestered by a slew of injuries, Pittsburgh’s star QB is one of the best in-the-pocket passers of any team in the playoffs. Without a doubt you’ll see him making big plays when needed.

When Roethlisberger isn’t firing on all cylinders via the pass, connecting with Antonio Brown (who’s caught over 1,000 yards this season for the fourth time in a row), Le’Veon Bell is tearing up opposing defenses via the ground attack. This year, Bell has racked up 1,900 yards over the span of just 13 games and he’ll be itching to add to those numbers in the postseason.

3. Defense

Though the Steelers defensive unit is not what it was in year’s back, it doesn’t get enough credit for a job well done. With players such as cornerback Artie Burns, safety Sean Davis and linebacker Bud Dupree, Pittsburgh’s defense has surged to be a formidable stopping unit that should be respected by any opposing offense.

4. Mike Tomlin

The last four times Mike Tomlin lead his team to 11 wins or more within a season, the Steelers made it to the Super Bowl twice. With Tomlin’s success a matter of record he doesn’t really need to prove anything to anyone but leading Pittsburgh to win their seventh Super Bowl title probably would get anyone smiling, wouldn’t you agree?
