If You’re Betting On The Giants…

In winning over the Detroit Lions last Sunday, 17-6, the Giants are inched closer to the AFC East division title. In the way however are their division rivals Philadelphia Eagles up next.

New York shouldn’t have too much of a problem in winning this game; though quarterback Eli Manning isn’t performing quite as well as in previous years (as measured in yards passed), as a team the Giants have amassed more wins this year than in the previous six seasons. Also, his chances of gaining passing yards against the Eagles are pretty good; last time around, Manning threw four passing touchdowns, his best this season. New York’s chances to win the game also go up because of how receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is playing; two weeks ago, the star receiver surpassed 3,800 receiving yards which is the most of any wide receiver in the league in the first 40 games.

As for the Giants’ defense they’re playing extremely well, holding their last six opponents to less than 100 yards in rushing, causing 18 turnovers and wreaking havoc on opposing quarterbacks.

The Eagles had another heartbreaking loss last weekend, this time losing to the Baltimore Ravens, 27-26, which effectively just about boots them from reaching the postseason.

As mentioned above, the Eagles had already lost to the Giants earlier this year. In that game, rookie quarterback Carson Wentz had major problems getting into a flow and only completed 27 of 47 passes for a 64.5 passer rating. He was also sacked and picked off twice. But it wasn’t only Wentz that struggled; Philadelphia’s backfield also couldn’t get the ground game going and as far as the defense is concerned it’s not playing at a level where they could put New York in any serious trouble. In fact, the Eagles defense has last allowed three of their last five opponents over 100 rushing yards including more than 150 yards to Baltimore.
