Bet These Week 16 NFL Games

What: Indianapolis Colts vs Oakland Raiders
When: Saturday, December 24, 2016
Start Time: 4:05 PM ET
Stadium: Oakland Alameda Coliseum
Spread: Raiders -3.5
Moneyline: Raiders -185 vs Colts +165
Game Total: 53
Watch: CBS

Analysis: Oakland has already secured its spot in the playoffs, but is hunting for a first-round bye with a win over the Colts. Meanwhile, the Colts are just hanging on a thread and desperately need to win in order not to be eliminated from playoff contention. Indianapolis is just one game behind the Texans and Titans for the top spot in the AFC South. Against the Vikings last week, the Colts picked up the pace and showed they have a good shot at holding up against the prolific Raiders passing game.

Oakland has made it to the playoffs for the first time since 2002 which undoubtedly gives them momentum heading into this game. Derek Carr however, still seems to be bothered by his finger injury and this may be a factor in determine this game’s outcome. It’s likely however, that the Raiders will turn to the ground game to take some pressure off of Carr’s shoulders. Keep in mind, the Raiders are playing at home and “The Black Hole” has been their stronghold (5-1 SU in its last 6 games at home).

Pick: Oakland wins but Indianapolis will cover. Colts +3.5

What: Miami Dolphins vs Buffalo Bills
When: Saturday, December 24, 2016
Start Time: 1:00 PM ET
Stadium: New Era Field
Spread: Bills -3.5
Moneyline: Bills -185 vs Dolphins +165
Game Total: 42
Watch: CBS

Analysis: Miami will clinch a playoffs berth if they win this game and provided the Broncos lose or tie to the Chiefs. Even having lost Ryan Tannehill, the Dolphins showed grit in defeating the New York Jets on Saturday, 34-13. Backup Matt Moore earned his salt, passing for four touchdowns on 12 of 18 completions for 236 yards. Miami has to like its odds of defeating the Bills in this game, they’ve already done so earlier this season and even if Moore doesn’t have another good game, the ground attack fared well the last time they played. Running back Jay Ajayi rushed for 214 yards on 29 carries on that occasion and now faces a Bills defensive line that’s allowing 124 yards per game.

The Bills are at 7-7 and are still alive but obviously this is a must win for them. Buffalo is still on the brink of missing the playoffs for the 17th consecutive season and don’t have an easy road up ahead. Much of the onus is on running back LeSean McCoy to have a big game. Against the Browns last week, McCoy ran for 153 yards and two touchdowns and has a good shot of racking up the yards against a Dolphins defense that’s allowing 132 rushing yards per game this year.

Pick: Buffalo is 5-2 ATS in its last 7 games when playing Miami, they’ll win and cover.

What: Atlanta Falcons vs Carolina Panthers
When: Sunday, December 18, 2016
Start Time: 1:00 PM ET
Stadium: Bank of America Stadium
Spread: Falcons -2.5
Moneyline: Falcons -135 vs Panthers +215
Game Total: 52
Watch: FOX

Analysis: Atlanta will clinch a playoff berth if they defeat the Panthers, plus a Bucs loss or tie against the Saints. And, Atlanta is on a warpath right now; two weeks ago the Falcons tore through the Rams, 42-14, last week they did the same to the 49ers, defeating them 41-13. Atlanta’s offense is playing well both through the air and on the ground; against San Francisco, they racked up 248 yards on the ground, while quarterback Matt Ryan did his job and completed 74 percent of his passes along with passing for two touchdowns despite still missing the services of star receiver Julio Jones. The Falcons also have to like their chances of defeating the Panthers as they did the first time these two met earlier this season. That time around, the Falcons crushed Carolina 48-33, with Ryan passing for a career-high 503 yhaards with four touchdowns.

In theory, the Panthers are still alive but have slim chances of making it to the playoffs this year. They’re now on a two-game winning streak after defeating the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football, 26-15. Carolina’s defense carried the team forward, effectively shutting down the prolific Chiefs’ offense and keeping them to only 15 points while forcing three turnovers. Quarterback Cam Newton is suffering from a shoulder injury that’s been pestering for some time now, but despite this he completed 21 of 37 passes for 300 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile running back Jonathan Stewart racked up 132 yards on 25 carries and he’ll be a positive factor for Carolina this time around being that he missed out the first game due to injury.

Pick: Atlanta is 3-6 ATS in its last 9 games when playing Carolina. Though the Falcons win, the Panthers will cover. It’s Panthers +2.5.
