A Handful Of The Best NHL Predictions To Bet On

While we’re all (well, most of us at least) getting over Super Bowl 50, we can chill out watching what’s going on on the ice. There are no shortage of great games as the season is in full swing and teams battle it out to get to the Stanley Cup. Keep reading to get a few NHL predictions…

Predictions for this week’s NHL games

Calgary Flames vs San Jose Sharks

Bet on the Flames

After losing eight of their last twelve games, the  Flames are in dire need of a win. They’ll need better performances from their head man, Johnny Gaudreau, who leads in scoring with 21 goals to his name. As a team, Calgary averages 2.7 goals per game, converting 14.5% of their power plays.

The Flames are allowing just under 3 goals per game, while killing 76.6 percent of power plays; goalie Karri Ramo has allowed 89 goals of the 1,000 shots he’s faced, while Jonas Hiller has given up 45 goals on 419 shots.

Bet on the Sharks

The story is different for San Jose. Over their last 12 games, they’ve won 8 while averaging 2.9 goals per game and scoring on 22.5% of power play opportunities. They’re led by Joe Pavelski with 25 goals.

The Sharks have allowed 2.7 goals per game this season, while killing 80.8 of power play opportunities. Goalie Martin Jones has given up 100 goals of the 1,180 he’s faced, while Alex Stalock has allowed 28 of 263 shots faced.

Free Pick: The Sharks are running hot and cutting through opponents, they should be able to beat the Flames easily.

Buffalo Sabres vs Philadelphia Flyers

Bet on the Sabres

The Sabres are in a three-game slump, losing six of their last eight. Despite Robin Lehner’s return guarding the goal, he’s still allowed four goals of 12 shots he’s faced (which is the second time in eight starts that he’s allowed more than two goals). The Sabres have allowed 2.7 goals per game, while killing 81.2 percent of power play opportunities.

They’re led in scoring by Ryan O’Reilly who has scored 17 goals. As a team the Sabres average 2.3 goals per game, scoring on 21.1 percent of power play opportunities.

Bet on the Flyers

Meanwhile, the Flyers are in a slump as well just recently losing 4-1 to the Anaheim Ducks which puts them back six of their last nine and six point behind the final Wild Card berth in the East. Wayne Simmonds leads in scoring, putting up 11 points in his last 10 games. Shayne Gostisbehere also continues perform well for Philly  and could be a candidate for the Calder Trophy. He has scored 28 points in 34 games this season.

Philadelphia is giving up 2.6 goals per game, killing 78.7 percent of power play opportunities. Steve Mason has given up 88 goals on 1,031 shots faced, while Michal Neuvirth has allowed 43 goals on 638 shots.

Buffalo is 2-6 SU in its last 8 games when playing on the road against Philadelphia. While Philadelphia is 12-5 SU in its last 17 games when playing Buffalo.

Los Angeles Kings vs New York Islanders

Bet on the Kings

LA kicked off a seven-game road trip with a bang, scoring big time against Boston on Tuesday. A run which they hope to continue in facing New York’s Jaroslav Halak, who has lost eight straight games when he’s started against the Kings. Los Angeles averages 2.8 goals per game while scoring on 23.4% of their power play opportunities. They’re led in scoring by Tyler Toffoli who’s amassed 23 goals to his name.

The Kings allow 2.3 goals per game while killing 82.4% of power play opportunities. Goalie Jonathan Quick has allowed 97 goals of 1,181 shots faced, while Jhonas Enroth has allowed 19 goals on 277 shots. Quick made 35 saves in his 28th victory after getting pulled in the second period of his previous outing last Thursday, when he stopped six of nine shots in a 4-2 loss to Anaheim.

Bet on the Islanders

New York is in the hunt for a win, after going 7-7 in their last 14 games. The Islanders average 2.8 goals per game, while scoring on 19.2% of power plays opportunities. They’re led by Brock Nelson who’s scored 20 goals so far.

New York is great at killing penalties stopping 86.8 percent, which is second overall in the league. The New York Islanders allow 2.5 goals per game. Goalie Jaroslav Halak has given up 64 goals of the 782 shots he’s faced, while Thomas Greiss has given up 48 goals on 679 shots.

Halak started his career with five straight wins over the Kings, but has gone 0-6-2 with a 3.07 goals-against average in his last eight starts against them. Halak made 29 saves in Tuesday's 3-2 victory at Columbus to end a three-start slide in which he allowed 10 goals.

Los Angeles is 5-2 SU in its last 7 games when playing on the road against NY Islanders. While NY Islanders is 11-5 SU in its last 16 games at home
