NHL Betting Picks: Boston Bruins vs St. Louis Blues

The regular season of the National Hockey League is coming to a close, so teams are scrambling to get as many wins as possible. And, though the Boston Bruins have an automatic playoff spot, they still need to pick up some momentum before the playoffs. Friday night’s game against the St. Louis Blues might allow them to do this, which makes it an interesting game to bet on.

Boston Bruins vs St. Louis Blues

  • Time: Friday, April 01, 2016 8:00 PM ET
  • Place: Scottrade Center
  • Line: St. Louis -147
  • Total: 5

Bet on the Bruins

With six loses in the last seven games, the Bruins seem to have lost all their steam and are playing like if they don’t care for the playoffs. Though they did show some spunk in the game against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday, they still wound up losing 2-1.

Patrice Bergeron had five shots on goal, out of which he scored none and although Brad Marchand did put the puck in, it didn’t make much of a difference. Goalie Tuukka Rask did have 13 stops, which was fairly decent.

Boston’s shooters have struggled to get past opposing goalies as of late and they might have the same problems with Brian Elliott tonight. Though they rank fourth with 2.8 goals per game, if Marchand cannot get back into scoring goals, they’ll end up losing tonight.

Marchand, Bergeron, and Loui Eriksson are  Boston’s shooting squad and when they’re on target they’ve been deadly.

Bet On the Blues

The Blues have been fantastic at shutting off opponents from scoring. Before allowing a goal against Colorado on Tuesday, they had already amassed a total of 258 minutes of not allowing a score. The Blues ended up winning the game regardless, but it was a great run.

They’re pretty well positioned heading into this games against Boston. Trailing a five-game winning streak and playing on their home ice should give them a further advantage to win.

Vladimir Tarasenko and David Backes are a lethal combination when it comes to scoring. They’ve combined for 56 goals this season and they should be able to find the net in tonight’s game as well against Rask.

Goalies Jake Allen and Brian Elliot should be able to stop the Bruins from scoring as well, especially with how Boston has been struggling as of late.
