Betting on the Senators

Senators fans should rejoice. Their team somehow managed to extend the Eastern Conference Finals to a due-or-die Game 7. However, for whatever reason the Canadian Tire Centre wasn’t at full capacity. Guess the fans didn’t have much hope but, perhaps, they’ll keep the faith for winning the last game.

Kudos to goalie Craig Anderson. He kept his cool and stopped 45 shots faced. Yes, you read right, 45 shots. The Senators better pray he has another night like that, considering Game 7 is played on Pens ice.

Ottawa finally managed to score on a penalty opportunity. However, they don’t have much to celebrate as it was the first score off a power play through 29 opportunities. Right win Bobby Ryan added to his, now, 15 points in the playoffs with the goal, but he also needs to keep the streak going if the Senators are to make it to their first Stanley Cup ever.

Betting on the Penguins

Once more, the Penguins could not finish off their opponents in six games and are now forced to play a seventh final game. It’s nothing to be concerned by, this happens in sports, except for the fact this is the fifth straight time the Pens cannot win a series clinching win the first time around.

Pittsburgh shot a barrage of shots to Sens’ goalie Anderson, overtaking Ottawa 75-46 in shots taken. But, Anderson got the better of it and clamped down hard, only allowing one goal.

It was Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby who combined for 13 shots on goal in Game 6. And it’ll be these two who likely will have the onus of sealing the win on their home ice.

The Penguins are, however, 0-7 in Game 7s on their home ice, which means that they stand to take a loss if history holds true.

Trends

  • Ottawa is 7-1 ATS in its last 8 games
  • Ottawa is 6-3 ATS in its last 9 games on the road
  • Ottawa is 2-4 SU in its last 6 games on the road
  • Pittsburgh is 1-5 ATS in its last 6 games
  • Pittsburgh is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games at home
  • Pittsburgh is 8-3 SU in its last 11 games at home

Pick and Prediction: As in the NBA Conference Finals, I’d like the underdogs to win. But, I think the Penguins win 3-1.
