The 2015 U.S. Open Predictions and Picks

The 2015 U.S. Open is set to begin on August 31, and ends on September 13, and the biggest storyline going into the tournament is if Serena Williams will be able to complete the calendar Grand Slam, after winning the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon this year. On the Men’s side, Novak Djokovic is going to try and win his third Grand Slam event of the year, after winning the Australian Open and Wimbledon this year. With that being said, it’s time for our U.S. Open preview, and U.S. Open tennis predictions.

Heading into the tournament, Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic are the favorites of the Women’s and Men’s side respectively. We will take a quick look at their chances of winning the event, as well as the chances of the other contenders in the tournament.

Women’s Bracket.

Serena Williams is the favorite to win the tournament, not only because of how well she has played this year, she has won the tournament three consecutive times, and six times overall, which means she is very tough to defeat in this event. She currently shares the Open era title wins with Chris Evert, and she will move into sole possession with another win at Flushing Meadows.

Williams is coming off a loss to 18 year old Swiss player Belinda Bencic in the semifinals of the Rogers Cup, it was her second loss of the year, and it will only make her more focused heading into the U.S. Open. Her odds of winning the tournament is even.

Victoria Azarenka has made a great comeback after suffering injuries that had her sidelined for most of the past two years. Like Williams, she also enjoys playing at the U.S. Open, and has made it to the finals twice in the last three years. Her odds of winning the tournament is +600.

Maria Sharapova won the U.S. Open in 2006, but she hasn’t made it back to the finals since then. She has played well this year, and made it to the finals of the Australian Open, where she lost to Williams, and she will be hoping to pull off the upset this year, and end Serena’s calendar slam bid. Her odds of winning is +800.

Men’s Bracket.

Novak Djokovic is the favorite on the Men’s side of the tournament, and he will be trying to win his second U.S. Open title. Djokovic is coming off a loss to Andy Murray at the Rodgers Cup, but he has played well all year and should be ready to face all challengers at the U.S. Open. His odds of winning the tournament is -105.

Andy Murray hasn’t won any Grand Slam tournaments this year, but he has played well, and made it to the Australian Open Finals, where he lost to Djokovic. Murray won the U.S. Open in 2012, and will be trying to win it again this year. His odds of winning is +350.

Roger Federer is one of the greatest players ever, and he showed that he still has something left in the tank when he made it to the Wimbledon Finals, where he lost to Djokovic. He will be trying to win his sixth U.S. Open, which will be his first since 2008. His odds of winning the tournament is +600.

U.S. Open Predictions.

Serena Williams will win the Women’s trophy, completing the calendar slam, while Andy Murray will win the Men’s trophy.
