On the NCAA Football odds board, you can wager on future events, such as who will win the college football national championship and how the SEC will fare.

It's been a while since betting on American football has been more common. You'll find the NCAA College Football Odds board at BetPhoenix, where you will find the best NCAAF Futures Odds. Some of the most significant college football wagers fall into the category of "futures" wagers, which doesn't even happen during college football season.

As the name suggests, Futures bets are the results known later instead of placing a wager on a team to win. In one single game, you can wager on how well they perform throughout the season, including the college playoffs (Champ Week, CFP) and the remaining bowl games.

In the off-season, people love to wager on NCAAF futures odds, such as which team will win the national championship or which conference will produce the conference champion. You can find divisional odds for the Southeastern Conference Championship (SEC) and the Big Ten, depending on the betting site you're using.

The middle of each season is also an excellent time to make these future bets. As teams rise and fall throughout the year, the odds are updated, and those eliminated from the competition are removed from the list. Once you know the ropes, betting on college futures is simple.

You can quickly sign up and participate in the National Championship, a tremendous opportunity for us. To wager on the game:

  1. Register or log in to our website.
  2. Search for or scroll to the college football section to see all the currently offered NCAAF Futures Odds.
  3. Select your wager type, in this case, Future.

The College National Championship odds are the core of the NCAAF futures market, so the big question is, who will win the championship game? They are frequently the only futures on the board during the off-season and are by far the most popular college football options.

You can click more wagers to view additional wagers and odds for the game. Choose your wager, decide on the stake amount, and then place your wager. You can log in after the game to see how you did. We also provide live betting through our apps, allowing you to wager on a constantly changing line throughout the game.

How to Bet on NCAAF Futures Odds

As we explained before, NCAAF futures odds are bets made on future events, for example, which team I think will win the championship or who will be named MVP. Longer-term outcomes typically resolved after a season or tournament determine these wagers.

The popularity of futures betting keeps rising, especially among casual bettors. The following are some benefits of placing bets on futures markets:

  1. Futures odds frequently provide a plus-money return, allowing you to win more than you bet potentially.
  2. You are not constrained by a set window for placing futures bets; they can be made frequently throughout the season.
  3. Futures wagers can vary from book to book, allowing you to compare odds for your wager.

The odds for futures are presented as a list, with the odds for each option. Most frequently, these are listed from best to worst odds of winning.

For example, the Kansas City Chiefs are listed as the top futures odds team at 500 (win $500 on a $100 bet), making them the top pick to win the 2022 Super Bowl.

On the other hand, the Indianapolis Colt's longer odds of winning the Super Bowl are listed at the bottom of the futures odds. At 2,800 (win $2,800 on a $100 wager).

Here's another example: once you've accessed your preferred college futures section, you'll see all the different wagers offered. The NCAA Championship typically serves as the betting action's focal point. You'll be given a list of the teams with the best remaining chances of winning for each wager.

For instance, the four teams still running for the ACC Championship as of Week 11 of the 2022–23 season appeared on the futures betting market as follows:

  • Clemson: -380
  • North Carolina: +265
  • Duke: +50000
  • Georgia Tech: +50000

These betting odds are presented in the "American" format, like the majority of bets on college football in the United States; however, if you'd prefer, you can switch to fractional or decimal odds if your chosen bookmaker offers them, which is the case with most reputable ones.

Pretend you are placing a $100 wager to make it simpler to read American odds. For every $100 wagered, you'll win the amount indicated by the positive arrow next to a team's odds; in this case, North Carolina would profit by $265, and the two long shots still in the running would win a sizable $50,000.

If you bet the specified amount (in Clemson's case, $380) and the team has a negative sign next to its American odds, you will win $100. Anytime you deal with futures, there's usually only one team with that negative sign attached. They're the favorites to win, usually because they've had success winning games.

Of course, you can wager less or more than $100, but this shortcut will make understanding the risk-to-reward ratio of the bets you want to place more accessible.

Using our odds calculator, you can determine your futures bet's implied probability and potential payouts.

Every futures wager has odds, and those odds have an implied chance of winning. The risk and potential payout are inversely correlated with implied probability, which increases with implied probability.

Finally, future bets with a lower implied probability carry a much higher risk of losing, but as a result, the potential payout is higher.

2023-24 College Football Playoff National Championship Candidates

Even though the 2022–23 game is still in progress, the 2023-24 College Football Playoff National Championship odds are already available. Meanwhile, the Georgia Bulldogs are still thrashing the TCU Horned Frogs for the previous title.

Georgia is the early favorite to win next season. Since the Minnesota Golden Gophers from 1934–36, the Bulldogs, the two-time defending champions, have not accomplished a triple-double.

After two losses this season, the Alabama Crimson Tide, a consistent contender, was eliminated from the running for the national championship. However, they are ranked 500th in the odds, right behind Georgia.

The oddsmakers have set Ohio State and the No. 2 seed, who lost to TCU in the semifinals, as having equal odds of 800 to compete for the prize in the national championship the following year.

In conclusion, the odds of winning the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2023–2024 are as follows:

  • Georgia
  • Ohio State
  • Alabama
  • Michigan
  • USC

The current NCAAF Futures Odds for the college football championship were swiftly announced following Georgia's 65-7 historic rout of TCU as 13-point, 5-point favorites on Monday night.

At 300 odds, the two-time defending champion Bulldogs are heavily favored to make it three in a row. The only other teams listed with one-digit opening odds are Kirby Smart's group, which is followed by Ohio State (600), Alabama (650), and Michigan (750).

As we get closer to August, these odds will undoubtedly change due to the many players currently registered in the transfer portal.

Let's not easily dismiss the rumors that Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh might leave Ann Arbor and join the NFL.

After a quick early look, bettors should consider several programs with seasoned star quarterbacks. Caleb Williams, the quarterback that became the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner, will return to USC (1100), giving the Trojans another chance to capitalize on his skills, while Bo Nix's return to Oregon (2800) makes the Ducks more appealing.

Jordan Travis, Florida State's returning quarterback, will have many Seminole fans rushing to the windows to grab the incredible 15000 value. At the same time, Arch Manning, who could start at center for Texas, will draw interest at 2000 odds.

With the help of highly regarded quarterback Drew Allar, Penn State (1700) and Notre Dame (2800), who acquired former Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman via the transfer portal, are two moon-shot plays that stand out.

College Football Playoff National Championship Past Winners

The NCAA Division Football Bowl Subdivision, which started competing back in the 2014 college football season, holds a postseason college football bowl game called the College Football Playoff National Championship that it's played to crown a national champion. The College Football Playoff, created as a replacement for the Bowl Championship Series and its corresponding BCS National Championship Game, is a bracket tournament between the top 4 teams in the nation as determined by a selection committee. The game continued as the final of the CFP.

The two semifinal matches, sometimes called the "Plus-One system," are held by the New Year's Six, a yearly rotation of bowls that determines the teams competing in the College Football Playoff National Championship. Because of this, unlike the BCS National Championship Game, the teams that will make it to the final game are not chosen by a selection committee.

With many similarities to the Super Bowl and NCAA Final Four, the game is played at a neutral location chosen through bids from potential host cities. The playoff organizers noted that the bids must suggest host stadiums with at least 65,000 spectators capacity, and the majority of cities cannot host both of them a semifinal game and the title game in the same year when it announced it was seeking bids for the 2016 and 2017 title games.

The College Football Playoff National Championship Trophy, which Dr. Pepper sponsors, is given to the winning team. In place of the "crystal football," awarded by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) in 1986, it was developed as a new championship trophy because officials desired a new award unrelated to the previous BCS championship system.

On January 12, 2015, Ohio State triumphed in the first game, which was played at ATandT Stadium in Arlington, Texas. When LSU triumphed in the sixth competition game in January 2020, a top-ranked team took home the College Football Playoff National Championship. Alabama leads all other teams in the College Football Playoff with six national championship appearances and three victories.

It should be noted that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) does not present awards for the College Football Playoff National Championship. Division I, FCS (Football Championship Subdivision, is the highest level of collegiate football for which the NCAA bestows championships.

Here are the final scores for the CFP National Championship game since it crowned its first champion in the 2014 season (the College Football Playoff also names its championship games based on the year in which it is played):

  • 2015: No. 4 Ohio State 42, No. 2 Oregon 20
  • 2016: No. 2 Alabama 45, No. 1 Clemson 40
  • 2017: No. 2 Clemson 35, No. 1 Alabama 31
  • 2018: No. 4 Alabama 26, No. 3 Georgia 23 (OT)
  • 2019: No. 2 Clemson 44, No. 1 Alabama 16
  • 2020: No. 1 LSU 42, No. 3 Clemson 25
  • 2021: No. 1 Alabama 52, No. 3 Ohio State 24

With the 1998 season, the Bowl Championship Series was established. The Rose Bowl joined the member conferences of the Bowl Alliance, including the Big Ten and Pac-10, to develop a system that selected five bowl matchups between the top 10 teams.

The BCS, renowned for utilizing computer and polling methods for selection, had a stand-alone title game in the 2006 season. The Fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Orange Bowl, and Rose Bowl were the four elite bowls that alternated in hosting the national championship matchup between 1999 and 2006.

The BCS Championship games from 1999 to 2006 are listed below:

  • 1999 Fiesta Bowl: No. 1 Tennessee 23, No. 2 Florida State 16
  • 2000 Sugar Bowl: No. 1 Florida State 46, No. 2 Virginia Tech 29
  • 2001 Orange Bowl: No. 1 Oklahoma 13, No. 2 Florida State 2
  • 2002 Rose Bowl: No. 1 Miami 37, No. 2 Nebraska 14
  • 2003 Fiesta Bowl: No. 2 Ohio State 31, No. 1 Miami 24 (2OT)
  • 2004 Sugar Bowl: No. 2 LSU 21, No. 1 Oklahoma 14
  • 2005 Orange Bowl: No. 1 USC 55, No. 2 Oklahoma 19
  • 2006 Rose Bowl: No. 2 Texas 41, No. 1 USC 38

There are still more betting options available for the college futures market. In BetPhoenix, we also offer odds on who will win the Heisman Trophy as the top college football player; some books list these award bets on their NCAAF props menu rather than their futures.

In the end, there's no need to restrict yourself to betting on the national title with so many betting options available. Other futures for the FBS regular season may also appear. If you try all these futures, you can enjoy betting on college football all year.
