France National Team

One of the darkhorse contenders to win the 2014 World Cup is France. They are the favorites to win what appears to be an easy Group E that includes Switzerland, Ecuador and Honduras. France definitely is looking for some redemption in the World Cup as they didn’t win a match four years ago.

France -150 to Win Group E

France is listed as the odds-on favorite to win Group E. They are well clear of the second choice who is Switzerland at odds of about 3-1. Ecuador is listed at 4-1 while Honduras has no real shot at 33-1.

France is listed as a longshot to win the 2014 World Cup with odds of just over 20-1.

All or Nothing for France

When it comes to the World Cup it has been all or nothing for France recently. They didn’t win a single match in 2002 or in 2010 but in 1998 and in 2006 they reached the final. France won the title in 1998 and the finished second in 2006. France has reached the knockout stage outside of Europe just once, in 1986. France was fortunate just to qualify for the 2014 World Cup as they had to come from two goals down in aggregate to win the playoff. They now get a very easy group that they should be able to win. A glance at their 2014 World Cup betting odds tells you the story as they are odds-on to win Group E.

France has an exciting young player in Paul Pogba who plays for Juventus. The midfielder can make plays and he is a scoring threat. He is joined in the midfield by Yohan Cabaye who plays for PSG.

France is managed by Didier Deschamps who was the captain of the 1998 French World Cup team.
