US Men’s Clay Court Championship and Grand Prix Hassan II Predictions

2014 US Men’s Clay Court Championship

The US Men’s Clay Court Championship and the Grand Prix Hassan II begin on Monday. None of the world’s top ten players are playing this week but John Isner is playing at the clay court event in Houston and Kevin Anderson is playing at the tournament in Morocco. Let’s look at both events and tennis predictions.

Check out the latest tennis odds at BetPhoenix sportsbook.

US Men's Clay Court Championship

This tournament is the only clay court event in the United States on the ATP World Tour. Last year it was John Isner winning this event. It was the first time Isner had ever won a clay court title. He is not thought of as a clay court player but his big serve was great a year ago. The field for this year’s event is a pretty good one behind Isner as other contenders to win are former champion Juan Monaco, last year’s runner-up Nicolas Almagro, Tommy Robredo, Fernando Verdasco, Lleyton Hewitt, Sam Querrey and Ivo Karlovic.

Grand Prix Hassan II

The only tournament in Africa on the ATP Tour is the Grand Prix Hassan III. This tournament is basically sponsored by Morocco's King Mohammed VI. It takes place in Casablanca, Morocco.

The winner last year of this event was Tommy Robredo but he is not back to defend his title as he chose to play at the Houston tournament instead of defending his title in Morocco. That should open things up for last year’s runner-up Kevin Anderson. It also opens the door for Pablo Andujar who won the title in 2011 and in 2012. Other players of note in the tournament are Robin Haase, Benoit Paire, Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Marcel Granollers.

Tennis Predictions

Isner will likely be favored at the US Men’s Clay Court Championship but I don’t think he wins. I think there is more value in tennis betting odds at the sportsbook on Robredo, Almago and Monaco. At the Grand Prix Hassan II I think the tournament should come down to Anderson and Andujar.
