Jurgen Klopp’s squad hopes for a return to glory in Estadio Wanda Metropolitano. The Reds raised their sixth European title at this stadium last June, when they won over Premier League rivals, Tottenham.

Liverpool has been unstoppable since that final, and currently lead the Premier League by a whopping 25 points.

The Reds are the clear favorites to win this match. Atletico is a struggling team that’s been left out of the Copa del Rey and lost in the Spanish Super Cup final.

Liverpool is mostly at full strength, with Xherdan Shaqiri and Nathaniel Clyne the only absences reported.

Klopp might make some changes in the lineup, but as it stands he’ll set a 4-3-3 arrangement with Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, and Mane

Atletico Madrid is struggling. But, Diego Simeone’s squad is known for never giving up and are dangerous when desperate.

Atletico’s season has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs. While qualifying reasonably easily for the knockout stages of this competition, Los Colchoneros have won just one of their last seven games in all competitions.

Injuries are a big concern for this team. Key attackers Diego Costa and Joao Felix are doubts for the game, and while Alvaro Morato returns, Kieran Trippier and Hector Herrera are still benched.

Here’s how Simeone’s probable lineup looks like Oblak; Arias, Gimenez, Felipe, Lodi; Koke, Llorente, Partey, Niguez; Correa, Morata

Prediction: Though Liverpool hasn’t won their last five away games against Spanish opposition in Europe, this is the year they’ll turn the tide.

The return of Mane to action this past weekend against Norwich City bodes well for Liverpool. Mane has scored ten goals in fourteen Champions League knockout games since 2017-18, a mark only bettered by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Pick: Liverpool +121
