UEFA Champions Quarterfinals Predictions

The Champions kicks off once more tomorrow with Juventus vs Barcelona and Dortmund vs Monaco. There’s plenty of action in store for soccer fans, so here are my UEFA Champions Quarterfinals Predictions.

Barcelona FC vs Juventus

  • When:  11th April 19:45
  • Where: Juventus Stadium

Juventus quickly dispatched Porto in the Round of 16, beating both in the home and away games with a 3-0 aggregate scoreline. The Italian squad is also heading to the Coppa Italia final after defeating Chievo on Saturday by a score of 2-0 that puts them ahead of the 2nd place Roma. Their home pitch has been golden for them, winning all but two of their matches there this season and drawing the remaining two. However, both draws have been in Champions’ matches so this is a must win game with a trip to Camp Nou on the away match waiting in store.

As for Barcelona, things weren’t as quiet for them in the Round of 16. After losing 4-0 in Parc des Princes against PSG, they came back in spades and refused to lose scoring three goals in the last minutes of play. The 88th minute saw Neymar get the first three goals, with an additional penalty from the same player. Finally, Sergi Roberto sealed the win in the 95th minute wrapping up one of the most thrilling games of football in recent memory. Barcelona have conceded ten goals in their last five away games, and they’re going up against one of the best strikers in the world in Gonzalo Higuain.

Game Prediction: Juventus should defend their home pitch and notch a win. Barcelona struggles on the road, so expect a 2-1 final score.

Borussia Dortmund vs Monaco

  • When:  11th April, 19:45
  • Where: Signal-Iduna-Park

Dortmund would rather forget their visit to Allianz Arena on Saturday. Rivals Bayern Munich found the back of the net twice within the first ten minutes of play in a game that ended in a 4-1 loss. Though they’re far behind in the Bundesliga, their 4-1 aggregate victory over Benfica in the last round got them to this stage, and it sets up one of the most exciting match ups in the competition. Dortmund has found the back of the net an impressive 25 times over eight Champions League games so far this season.

Monaco has also been successful in the goals sheet. Winning on away goals over Manchester City in the last round with Radamel Falcao presenting himself as a capable striker that’s found the back of the net on six occasions in Champions League play. Monaco’s win over Angers on Saturday makes it eight wins from their last nine games in all competitions, keeping them top of Ligue 1 with a one point lead over 2nd place Nice and a three point cushion on PSG in 3rd.

This should be a high-scoring match where both teams will look forward to find the back of the net at least a couple of times. Monaco have seen at least three goals in seven of their last ten away days in all competitions and in five of their six trips away in the Champions League this season. Both teams have scored in all but one of these European games and in eight of their last ten on the road in all competitions.

Game Predictions: Borussia Dortmund wins 3-2.
