World Cup 2018 Group H

Poland vs. Senegal

  • Date: Saturday, June 19
  • Betting Odds: Poland +138 vs Senegal +229 – Draw +227

Poland: Polish fans will make it in droves to Russia to see their team in the World Cup for the first time since 2006. It could also be team heroes Robert Lewandowski and Jakub Blaszczykowski’s last best chance to make a statement on the world stage.

Poland carries momentum after having made a quarterfinal appearance at the Euro 2016 which could carry them to the knockout stage at the 2018 World Cup.

Poland’s strikers are deadly effective, having netted 28 goals in qualifying while scoring two or more goals in nine of their ten qualifiers. Lewandowski found the back of the net the most with 16 goals to his name, but this wouldn’t have been possible without Arkadiusz Milik, Kamil Grosicki, and Piotr Zielinski.

Senegal: It is Senegal’s first time in the World Cup since 2002, but this is a team hungry to dive back into tournament soccer. While the team is young it was unbeaten in a group that included South Africa, Burkina Faso, and Cape Verde.

A number of Senegalese players are part of European clubs including Liverpool’s Sadio Mane one of the most dynamic players for the English club and his country as well.

Prediction for Poland vs. Senegal: These two squads can turn on a dime and open up a golden scoring opportunity. But it’s going to be difficult. Poland has the edge up front with more than enough firepower in Lewandowski, Poland will win.

Colombia vs. Japan

  • Date: Saturday, June 19
  • Betting Odds: Colombia -139 vs Japan +470 – Draw +273

Colombia: The Colombians did well in Brazil 2014 reaching up to the quarterfinals and expect to do as well once more. Led by Bayern Munich’s James Rodriguez, this team is as solid as they come.

James plays along the likes of Carlos Bacca, Luis Muriel, and Radamel Falcao, so you can always expect a volley of goals. Defensively they are anchored by Davinson Sanchez and Yerry Mina of Tottenham and Barcelona respectively.

Japan: This squad’s players are no strangers to European soccer with many of their players competing across a score of international leagues that include the Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga and Ligue 1.

It may not have the star power of other teams in this competition, but Japan can trust their players to be able to put up a good fight.

Notables include Borussia Dortmund’s Shinji Kagawa who has 89 caps for Japan.

Prediction for Colombia vs. Japan: Colombia is the favorite and at -139 is a good bet to win the first game.
