Prairie Meadows Horse Racing Picks and More

Now that the Triple Crown races are over, and American Pharoah was able to win all three, and become the first Triple Crown winning thoroughbred in 37 years, horse racing fans are turning their attention to the races taking place at the Prairie Meadows Horse Racing Casino, Racetrack, and Hotel.

The Prairie Meadows horse racing track runs a lot of stakes from April to October, which is its peak horse racing season, and three of those are graded stakes. The three graded stakes that are run on the Prairie Meadow racetrack are the Iowa Derby, Iowa Oaks, and the Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap, all of which will be taking place on the 27th of June.

Unlike the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Belmont Stakes, there won’t be any big name horses at any of the three events, because all the best thoroughbreds will be getting rested for the Breeder’s Cup events coming up soon. The horses that will participate at the Iowa Derby, Iowa Oaks, and Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap are usually horses that gearing up to make a run at the Triple Crown races next year.

Despite the lack of a lot big name race horses at the Iowa Derby, Iowa Oaks, and Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap, there are a lot of exciting events schedules to take place at the Prairie Meadow horse racing track, and since the meadows is also a casino, there will be plenty of opportunities to make some horse racing bets, and also bet on some of the other entertainment that is going on during the entire week.

Right now, the only information that is available is on the races that will be taking place on Thursday, June 25, there are nine races scheduled on that day, which will allow people to make a lot of Prairie Meadow horse racing picks, but the two biggest races of the day are the 8th and 9th race.

The 8th race of the day features any horse, three years old or older, which hasn’t won a race other than its maiden, claiming, restricted or starter race. The horse also has to have won less than $30,000 to be eligible.

The favorites in this race are:

  • Crabby Frank: He is an Iowa bred horse, with three wins in four starts. His odds of winning is currently at 5-1.
  • Montezuma Express: This is a Kentucky bred horse that has one win in eight starts this year. His odds are currently at 6-1.
  • Cozzetti: He is another Kentucky bred horse that has zero wins in four starts this year, and has 8-1 odds of winning.

The 9th race of the night features registered state bred maidens that are 3-6 years old, and have to run one mile and 70 yards. The favorites to win this event are:

  • Hi Five Cy: He is a three year old that has one career start, which he finished second, and he has the best odds at 4-1.
  • Langs Legend: He is also a three year old, and has one career start, but he was unable to finish in the top three. He has the next best odds at 6-1.
  • Soldier Blue: This three year old has two career starts, and he has a third place finish in one of those starts. He is tied with Langs Legend with 6-1 odds.

Prairie Meadow Horse Racing Picks.

In the 8th race, I’m going with Crabby Frank to win, because he already has three career wins, and looks like the best of the bunch. The 9th race is a little tougher to pick, but I’m going with Hi Five Cy.
