Should You Bet on the Nationals?

Washington’s road to the World Series was troubled, having to win over the Brewers in a wild card game and then beating out top-seeded Dodgers in the NLDS and sweeping the Cardinals in the NLCS.

The Nationals are averaging 4.5 runs per game, which rank top-three for all postseason teams this year. But, the Nationals sluggers may have problems against the Astros’ star pitching duo of Cole and Verlander.

Washington may have some problems in their bullpen; if Max Scherzer can’t go the distance, then the Nationals’ relievers may find themselves in hot water.

Should You Bet on the Astros?

The Astros played at a blistering 50-22 pace in the second half of the season and finished at .694. Houston also had a +189 run differential after the All-Star break and nagged the best scoring margin in the MLB (+280).

Houston came away with the ALDS, eliminating the Rays in five games behind great pitching from Gerrit Cole and Justin Verlander. The Astros’ star pitchers are tough to score against and kept the Rays and Yankees to eight runs scored in 43.1 innings.
