MLS Season Preview: Hot Upcoming Soccer Games

MLS Western Conference, MLS Eastern Conference

Now that we are halfway through the 2015 MLS season, things are starting to come into shape. Some of the teams that got off to fast starts are starting to fade, and some of the teams that started the season slowly, are working their way back to the top of the standings.

Prior to the season, any MLS preview you looked at, had the Los Angeles Galaxy repeating as champions, but so far, they trail FC Dallas in the Western Conference standings.

In the Eastern Conference, the New England revolution came in as the defending champions, but are currently sitting in 5th place in the standings.

If you have been watching sports for a long time, you should know that season previews don’t usually predict which teams will win the season accurately, unless it’s a sport that is dominated by one team.

That is why it is no surprise that the MLS season preview hasn’t been accurate so far, which hasn’t been good for people who did some soccer betting based on the MLS Season Preview.

So far this season, DC United picked up where they left off last season, and are sitting on top of the Eastern Conference, with 35 points, five more points than the Columbus Crew.

The fact that they are leading the conference is pretty surprising, considering the fact that they have been in a lot of close games this year, and only have a 4 goal differential.

That this squad got off to a fast start this season, is the main reason they are still on top of the conference, because they have lost three straight matches, but still have a decent lead over the rest of the conference.

Now that they have been knocked out of the U.S. Open Cup, they can concentrate on winning the MLS trophy, and the CONCACAF Champions League, which begins next month.

In the Western Conference, FC Dallas got off to a fast start, and they have managed to hold off the rest of the competition so far. The biggest reason for their success is their offense, which has them tied for third most goals scored in the league, at 28.

This week, there are quite a few games on the schedule, but we will take a quick look at, and provide you with some MLS betting odds and MLS predictions.

Friday:

Real Salt Lake vs Sporting Kansas City.

Real Salt Lake is seven points behind Sporting Kansas City in the standings, and have a good chance to make up some ground at home. They will be going into the game with some confidence, after knocking LA Galaxy out of the U.S. Open Cup.

Match Odds and Predictions.

My Pick: Although the betting lines for this match are not yet available, Real Salt Lake is undefeated at home in their last 11 games, so I’m picking them to win this match.

Saturday:

Columbus Crew vs Toronto FC.

This is a match for second place in the Eastern Conference, if Toronto wins the match, they will have 30 points for the season, which will move them into a tie for second place, and if Columbus wins, they will be within two points of DC United.

Match Odds and Predictions.

My Pick: We still don't know which team is the favorite, however Columbus has won three straight home games, and I expect the trend to continue, with a win against Toronto.

Sunday:

Vancouver Whitecaps vs San Jose Earthquakes.

The Whitecaps are in third place in the Western Conference, eight games ahead of the Earthquakes, and they will be trying to make a run for the top of the standings, which means that they have to take advantage of the opportunity they have against the struggling Earthquakes.

Match Odds and Predictions.

My Pick: The Whitecaps will be too much for the Earthquakes to handle.
