A Breakdown Of The NBA Finals Odds

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors are the two teams left in the NBA playoffs, and they will meet in the NBA Finals, which begins next week, to determine the 2014/2015 NBA champions.

Prior to the season, the Cavaliers were projected by most experts to be in the finals, because they added LeBron James through free agency, and traded for Kevin love, which instantly made them a contender, because of the young talent that they already had.

The Warriors on the other hand were coming off a first round exit from the playoffs last year, which led to a coaching change, so not too many people expected them to be in the finals, with a rookie head coach at the helm.

Once the season began, Golden State showed the NBA that they were a very good team, and jumped out to a fast start, which helped them finish the year with the best record in the NBA. Cleveland overcame a slow start to the season and managed to finish with the second best record in the Eastern conference.

During the playoffs, the Cleveland Cavaliers swept the Boston Celtics in the first round, and eliminated the Chicago Bulls in six games, when they played in the second round, before easily dispatching the Atlanta Hawks, who had the best record in the NBA, when they met in the Eastern Conference Finals

The Golden State Warriors also swept their first round opponents, the New Orleans Pelicans, then eliminated the Memphis Grizzlies in six games, when they met in the second round. In the Western Conference Finals, the Warriors were able to eliminate the Houston Rockets in five games, setting up their matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.

During their playoff run, league MVP Stephen Curry has been sensational for the Golden State Warriors, and is the main reason they made it to the finals. During the run, he has averaged 29.32 points, 6.4 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game. The Warriors will be expecting him to continue playing at that level during the finals. His counterpart LeBron James, has been equally as important to his team, especially with the injuries that they have faced during the playoffs, and is averaging 27.6 points, 10.4 rebounds, 8.3 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 1.8 steals per game. The Cavaliers will need him to continue playing this well to win the finals.

Now that the two teams participating in the NBA Finals are known, the betting lines for the finals have been set, and as expected, the NBA Finals odds favor the Golden State Warriors, who were the best team in the league this year. Right now, the odds of Golden State winning the NBA Finals is -210, while the odds of the Cleveland Cavaliers winning it is +175.

The odds for game 1 of the series has also been set, and the Warriors are favored to win the game by 5.5 points, with the over/under on total points scored in the game set at 203.
