Betting on the Warriors?

It seems that no matter how much the odds are stacked against them, the Warriors can’t go wrong. When a loss in Game 3 looked inevitable, Kevin Durant led Golden State to yet another win and now the Warriors are on the verge of sweeping the Jazz to advance to the next round of the playoffs.

Kevin Durant shouldered much in Game 3, scoring 33 points- 22 of which he scored in the first half- and 13 rebounds to boot. Stephen Curry had an off night, managing only 23 points on 3 of 11 from three point land, while Draymond Green found himself in foul trouble early on, pestered by Rudy Gobert.

The Warriors played solid basketball, especially in the second half, where they only committed two turnovers, hit 44 percent of their shots and out rebounded Utah 51-42.

Like I said, even if Game 3 was the Warriors’ worst game of these playoffs, they still managed to win by double digits. And, it’s likely they’ll close things out tonight.

Betting on the Jazz?

The Jazz had their hopes crushed of winning a game in this series. Utah seemed poised to win Game 3, but a combination of ineffectiveness in the second half on Utah’s part and a relentless Kevin Durant made everything crumble to pieces.

Utah led game by as much as nine points in the third quarter and all five of their starters scored in double digits. Gordon Hayward scored 29 points and Rudy Gobert added 21 points and 15 boards, however neither these two, nor anyone else managed to seal the deal down the line and went scoreless for a five minute span in the fourth quarter that cost them dearly in the end.

The Jazz cannot go tit-for-tat with the Warriors’ shooters and only outscored Golden State 38-34 in the paint. However, if they want a win tonight they’ll need to focus on clamping down on defense to limit Golden State shooters from doing too much damage.

Trends to consider

  • Golden State is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • Golden State is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games when playing Utah
  • Utah is 1-4 SU in its last 5 games
  • Utah is 1-10 SU in its last 11 games when playing Golden State

Prediction: Utah has not fared well at home, where they’re 1-3 this postseason. On the other hand, the Warriors have played well on the road and I expect them to continue this trend tonight. The Warriors sweep the Jazz and move to the next round.
