Creighton is a tournament worthy team, but Providence is on the up and up looking for a bid in Big East basketball.

Bet on Creighton

Justin Patton is set to take the court tonight after a few days off, ready to finish the year off on a high note. However, the Jays have won only three of their last eight games and are still adjusting to playing  without Maurice Watson.

The only problem is that they’re out of time. And, this game against Providence will determine whether CU is ready to compete with the nation's top teams. Creighton will need to limit turnovers in order to stay in the game. The Jays have committed 48 total turnovers in its last three games (16 per outing) and can’t seem to keep the ball in their hands without Watson.

However,  the Bluejays have the highest-scoring offense in the Big East this season with 83.5 points per game on an excellent 51.2% field-goal percentage, including 40.3% from three-point range. This puts extra pressure on Marcus Foster (18.5 PPG) and freshman Justin Patton (13.1 PPG, 6.3 RPG) to step up and lead the team.

Bet on Providence

Providence is hot at the moment. In fact, there are only three major conference teams (UCLA, Kansas and Kentucky) who have a longer winning streak than the Friars' current six-game run. What’s more impressive about this is that this team lost all of their best players from a season ago.

Rodney Bullock leads this squad with a team-leading average of 16.1 points on 32.8 minutes per game, while also adding 6.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per contest. There are three more double-digit scorers in this squad, Emmit Holt (12.3), Kyron Cartwright (11.3) and Jalen Lindsey (10.3) have all played a key role in this team’s success and there’s a good chance that the Friars will head to the Big Dance again this year.

Betting Trends

  • Creighton is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games
  • Creighton is 17-8 SU in its last 25 games
  • Creighton is 2-4 SU in its last 6 games
  • Providence is 8-1 ATS in its last 9 games
  • Providence is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • Providence is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games when playing Creighton

Game Prediction: These two have split the season series with Creighton beating Providence by 14 points in early January before the Friars defeated the Bluejays by two on February 22nd. Both teams are practically locks for the NCAA Tournament, but there is a chance that the winner of this game could make an unexpected run to the title game. My money is on Creigton at -2.
